We were super excited to stay at this hotel, as generally Best Westerns are a very good hotel. Check in process was quick and without issue.
The room we stayed in was a King bed and bathtub in room.. Multiple pieces of gum on the carpet in the room, tv was mounted at an angle, bathroom shelf was mounted on an angle, edging on the carpet was done very shotty.. grouting on the tub looked rough. The big kicker for us was to rent a room with a tub, the hot water ran for about 2 minutes then turned cold. This tub was HUGE! to fill this tub with 2 minutes of hot water every 10 minutes would take over 3 hours of time management to have a decent hot water bath.. That's absurd.. Overall room is the rating I gave. 2 stars..
Went down to have breakfast at 6am, the only 2 hot food options: the eggs and sausage were both cold at 6am when the breakfast opened. Overall service is 2 stars as well.
Was hoping for at least a hot breakfast for the price we paid for an uncleaned room with gum on the floors.
Definitely will not stay again.

At the tail end of a 5 week road trip, staying in hotels all of the way, we have decided Best Western is the best value for our dollar, but this BW in Altoona far exceeded our expectations. Friendly staff, very clean room with many thoughtful amenities, comfy beds and close to shops, restaurants and nightlife. This is the nicest BW we encountered in our 6000 mile journey!

Very odd decisions were certainly made by Best Western when they bought the Altoona Inn. To ignore the state of the walls, carpet, trim, tile, and faded decor, and instead install fancy futuristic touch-screen mirrors and light-up beds was...a Choice. However, our particular room (an extra large double queen) was at the end of the hall, where we had a view of an open field and the roller coasters. The biggest issue was that there was no way to plug the bath, which meant having to attempt to cover the drain with towels so I could give my child a bath (already made difficult by the super-elongated toilet covering most of the access to the bath and shower).
Since the theme park season is about to start, I doubt any issues will be addressed before winter, so be aware of those when booking, and maybe bring along a suction cover to plug the drain if you have littles who are adamant about not using a shower.
Excellent stay. Here working and ended up staying an extra night. Dani at the front desk was wonderful and gave a great recommendation for supper. We I had to extend the stay, Kayla was very pleasant and accommodating. Good breakfast choices and variety of coffees. I would definitely stay here again when I return.
Check-in - no problems. Hotel was dated, seems like our room was renovated but carpet was still worn. The room was clean. There was a large pile of dirty sheets in the middle of the hallway with no housekeeping in sight when we got to our room at 6pm. Stangely, a staff member knocked on our door around 8 pm, called out my name, then ask if we were ok, a bit unnerving as it made me wonder if something was wrong. I didn’t get up to discuss further as we were already in bed after a long day of travel. Air conditioner stopped working through the night, but automatically kicked in at 6am - hmm.
Breakfast was weird - we were there an hour after it started, the room was dark, juice machine wasn’t operating, there was sausage, eggs and muffins but nothing else. Other guests that apparently had been there for prior breakfast said this was the first time it wasn’t set up and were worried there was something wrong with the staff member and were looking for her. We left and had to pay for our breakfast elsewhere.
Also, beware there is a sign that they only clean the rooms every 3 days and if you want fresh towels, you have to bring your dirty ones to the front desk - yuk.
