Leann was an amazing guest service person. I’m originally from MKE, moved to CLT, and came back for a visit. As one of the first people I’ve seen off the plane, she was so welcoming and heart warming. She also texted me during the stay to see what I needed. & she made check out a breeze! Thank you so much Leann. You have an amazing beautiful heart and spirit!

We needed a room for three nights that would be comfortable for three for the Milwaukee Mile 250 at State Fair Park west of downtown Milwaukee Fri Aug 22 to Mon Aug 25. This included my girlfriend and her daughter who still isn't comfortable seeing us in the same bed. Typically that means two queens and a rollaway, if available. We've had some bad Wyndham experiences, so we decided to switch to the Hilton portfolio. This Home2 Suites gave us nice option for our situation with the one bedroom king, although we still got a rollaway so her daughter wouldn't have to use the couch. In the age of Ubers, we have often found it significantly cheaper on high traffic weekends to book airport hotels like this one even adding daily $10-$20 Uber/Lift rides to get to and from venues. I'm a bit cynical after 65 years, so I was just hoping for no unpleasant surprises like we had with the other chain. Happily our stay was pretty much issue free. The room was quite and comfortable, and the hot breakfast adequate, which is what we hoped. In particular, the pipes weren't noisy when turning on the water, the pool wasn't closed, the workout room wasn't closed, there was no whining window fan, we couldn't hear other guests, and nothing (much) was missing from the breakfast buffet. These were all issues we had with the other chain. Nice to have no unpleasant surprises. There was no heating/cooling fan below the window, it was all in the wall (room by room HVAC?), a nice modern feature. The pool was impressive and clean, with nice views to the outside through the glass walls. The workout and laundry rooms were also available and clean outside of a couple dryer sheets on the floor. We were lucky to have the pool and workout rooms mostly to ourselves during our brief visits. Front desk free checkin and checkout is featured here which was cool. The room could be unlocked with your phone. We could also control the TV with the app, although we could not control other things that were advertised as app controllable like the lights or the thermostat. The view was mainly airport and parking lot which we expected. This was offset with the trees and lawn of the well kept hotel grounds. One minor issue was that thermostat only let us have fan always on or fan always off. Typically they are set to automatically cycle the fan on and off, in fact I had thought this to be a hotel requirement. We chose fan always off to keep the room completely quiet. Breakfast is the common weak link at 3 star hotels and this one was no exception, as mentioned by other reviewers. First off breakfast had neither of the items advertised on the TV promo screen. It showed a picture of a toasted bagel next to cut fresh fruit. The breakfast buffet had neither of these items the three days we were there, although apparently bagels is something it normally has. I think the server was a little miffed I asked about this. There was processed egg patties, pour and cook your own waffles with toppings, sausage patties, plain oatmeal, cornflakes, etc. No non-pork sausage meat options like veggie or turkey patties or slightly higher tier items like breakfast burritos or granola. I restrained myself from taking a star off as I've yet to stay at a hotel with a decent breakfast. There is a working fire pit in the front with chairs, and a small but comfortable lobby. Across the parking lot is a Hilton Garden Inn I checked out. They have an impressive lobby and a fancy adjacent restaurant. The very helpful front desk attendant gave me an insider lowdown comparison of the hotels as we had also considered the Garden Inn which was about the same price. The Home2 Suites and Garden Inn are owned by the same group. The Home2 Suites has better rooms and is more for longer term stays (hence the name). For me the better rooms is more important than a fancy lobby or a pricey restaurant, particularly if it's my dime and not a corporate tab. We look forward to our next stay here.
