  Last week I stayed at this Hampton Inn for 3 days due to my dad having recently passed away. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and all the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly. Liza who worked the reception desk was especially noteworthy. She remembered that I was there to help my brothers after our dad's death and gave me an understanding glance as I came through the front door. Another day, after cleaning out our dad's storage shed in 90 degree weather, she offered me water as I came through the reception area. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you, again, Liza!

  Short story: WOW! Very long story: To say we are impressed with everything this place had to offer is an understatement! We had to travel from NY to VA for a family funeral and and originally we were traveling with two dogs unfortunately one passed away before we left so that made things even more depressing in our world. From our first phone call with Liza before we even made reservations she answered all of my questions (I had plenty) pleasantly and without rushing through the call, during our stay she was so sweet and genuinely seemed interested in us as more than just guests at your hotel, she's an all around a beautiful human I got to befriend and is the most perfect person to have greet your guests even if I also think she should be running the show! Our arrival checking in with Felicia was very welcoming, we had just driven 12 straight hours and they helped us check in a little early so we could finally get some rest and gave us a bunch of extra pillows, we appreciated that so much! Just like Liza, Felicia was always smiling and ready to help in any way she could. I like to keep our room clean on long stays and not have to bother the housekeepers especially with our dog so Taneesha made sure we had everything we needed along the way to keep stocked up and fresh, never made us feel like we were bugging her, she seemed happy to accommodate us. Alvin was also great, very friendly and helped us keep our room when we decided to extend our stay. It was so refreshing there, you all made it hard to leave! Every morning you had a beautiful, delicous breakfast waiting. The hours were great for early and late risers, you have plenty of time to get there! Helen and Sanghwa were wonderful at making sure everything was stocked and clean at all times. Helen was pure joy to talk to, I'm so glad we extended our stay and we could say goodbye to her! She made sure I was correctly informed about grits, something that's not as popular where we are from, she was right butter and salt are the way to go! Taylor took over for a couple mornings and he was a sweet kid and nice to talk to as well. Right down to maintenance, Rodrick was awesome! We talked to him almost every morning, he always had a smile and a quick shrimp fishing story for us. Because of you all we all had the reset we needed and with this being more of a sad reason to visit vs being a vacation, these people had no idea how bad our previous few weeks had been and how much we eneded up needing all of them and their positivity! Everyone there seemed happy to be there, you don't see many places where all employees appear to enjoy their job that much. Besides the staff, the hotel itself was beautiful! The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds are comfy, the pool and dining areas were always kept up. Everytime you came back in from outside, the smell was sooooo nice! I need to know what scent that is so our home can smell like that! I am so glad we booked with you and not somewhere else, we will be returning because you're an 11/10 place to stay! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

  First let me say that Liza is an exceptional Front Desk clerk. She made sure that my request were all met for my 5 nights. Unfortunately, the nice room she put me in was on the busy side of traffic which I didn't know until early wee hours however, she went out of her way to find me a room away from the street noise. She always had a smile on her face and very personable. She is a terrific asset to the Hilton team! The room was nice size, bed was very comfortable, bathroom big, TV good size with lots of channels, gym is decent and the indoor pool great size. The breakfast every morning was different and very filling! This hotel is located in a great area because there are several fast food places within walking distance. There is even a Food Lion with great prepped meals for $5. It's close to the highway so getting around is easy. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel especially for the price. I definitely would stay there next time I'm in VA!

  I had a great experience at the Hampton Inn Newport News-Yorktown. The room, including the bathroom, was very clean. The building was quiet and clean. I was in town for a work meeting in the afternoon, a few hours after check out. I spoke with Liza at the front desk to see if I could do some work on my computer in the lobby until it was time to head to my meeting. Liza said that would be completely fine, and she even offered me a later check out time, which I did not need but was very appreciative of the offer. Liza and Lorna periodically checked on me while I sat in the lobby - offering water, etc. I witnessed them both providing wonderful customer service while I was there. Thank you both for your hospitality and kindness! I also had a great check-in experience with Alvin who was very personable as well. If I find myself in the area again I will definitely stay here again.
