Right off Interstate 81, our new Tru is located across the highway from Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. We are less than four miles from Radford University and eight miles from Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Breathe in the mountain air on our big patio or chill with a game in the lobby. We also have an indoor pool and fitness center.

From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, the manager was extremely grouchy and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone for our stay. While the location itself was great, the rooms were not. The room was visibly dirty and did not appear to have received a proper deep cleaning. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, and this fell well below standard. Overall, the property has potential because of its location, but customer service and housekeeping need significant improvement before we would consider staying here again.

I had a positive experience, went to the lobby to write last-minute holiday cards, and found two men playing pool and chatting quietly. The receptionist was at the desk, there were lots of large, clean tables, and it reminded me almost of a resort "lodge" with its cheerful, inviting atmosphere. Breakfast was fine, although there was definitely an emphasis on high-sugar "fun" foods. I would have liked a few more healthy options like unsugared plain low fat yogurt, then let people top it (or not) as they wish. The toppings are already there! There were plain hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, and plain instant oatmeal, so I can't complain too much! Overall an outstanding hotel! I only removed one star for location because you need to drive a few minutes for restaurants. Super-convenient to I-81. We will come back!
