We stayed at the Emily Morgan in November for a quick 2 day trip. This was our first time staying a little bit off the river walk like we usually do. The hotel is absolutely beautiful inside. Only reason why I gave three stars is because when we arrived, it took over 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge/attend to us for valet. I am absolutely okay to wait on someone if there was communication from the front desk. There were a bunch of guests arriving at once, which would make the wait time understandable. Communication is key. My disappointment was only because of nobody letting us know what was going on. The room was freezing at night even when piling on extra blankets. We could not adjust the thermostat so if you come, maybe bring some extra blankets and long pants to sleep in. We chose the room that would view the Alamo, which you could if you were 7 feet tall to see out the window. Once viewing where our room was in daylight from the outside, we can tell why, on the 12th floor there is a foe concrete balcony blocking you from seeing out the window. I took a picture of my daughter, standing on the window sill of the room while I stood on the bed for an example. I do love the history behind the hotel. I don’t recommend paying for their breakfast buffets. It was very continental like and overly priced. We would stay here again, knowing that we would pack extra blankets and warm clothes to wear while we are sleeping.

The location is perfection. The hotel is extremely worn. Not outdated but worn out. The entry rug near the bar was stained all over, the seating has stains and there is a smell of not the cleanest. There could be many small updates really just in cleanliness that would make it better. Even the elevators were dirty with prints all over. Im disappointed with the majesty of the outside and we were in a rush to get a room after a air b n b fiasco. I would spend your money on the other hotels in the area that are much cleaner.

We reserved a king room, and it happened to the on the 14th floor. The location, view, and historical context are great. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful.
However, the room did not meet our expectations: it was dated, needed to be deep cleaned (mold in the shower, dusty), the mattress was not comfortable and the pillows were flat. The last straw for us was when we lost water pressure multiple times when showering. The water would suddenly stop or turn into a trickle. At the price point, we expected a better experience. We stayed one night, found another hotel, and checked out early.

Getting the room verified and checked in were the main issues, but once resolved our stay was excellent. Just what you’d expect from a historic hotel with a few upgrades. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating considering the circumstances. Loved being able to explore the hotel and the bar is great. Having a great view of the Alamo was interesting if you like the historical essence of San Antonio. Extremely convenient location and we will definitely be coming back in the future!!
