We stayed at Riverwalk Plaza Hotel in San Antonio to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary, and what should have been a special trip turned into a very upsetting experience. The front desk attendant, Gabriel, was polite and attentive, but that is the only positive part of this review. On the morning of checkout, we discovered that my husband’s custom wedding band was missing from our room. He never takes it off when we are out (only when we go to sleep) so we knew it had to have gone missing in the room. We tore the room apart searching for it and reported it immediately at checkout. The front desk told us housekeeping would look for it, but we heard nothing back. By Tuesday (several days later), there was still no follow‑up, so I called and asked for the general manager. After I explained the situation, he told me he would check the room key logs and the hallway cameras (there is a camera right next to our door) to see if anyone besides us had entered the room. He also said he would call me back before the end of the day. We had no room service at any point during our four‑night stay, so verifying access to our room should have been simple. Since that call, I have phoned multiple times and left messages for the general manager, and he has never called me back. The combination of a missing, irreplaceable wedding ring and management’s complete lack of follow‑through or concern is deeply troubling. If you value your belongings and expect basic accountability from hotel leadership, think very carefully before booking at this hotel.

Very very nice hotel and great experience overall. I booked 3 nights using Expedia (watch out as this can be risky!) and luckily everything went well. We arrived before the 4:00 pm check in time but still offered to keep our belongings before we got our rooms. The valet costs almost $40 for a whole day, which is a little pricey compared to the available parking lots and public spaces outside - definitely not as safe as keeping the car inside the hotel. The coffee at Niche is amazing (close to the lobby) and so is the bakery. The food at the Gavel (restaurant) is good for a quick breakfast/bite before walking around. Location is great, just steps from the river walk and super close to San Fernando Cathedral. Finally, the rooms are nice and for the price, excellent. When I thought having a pool close by was a problem, I found a white noise machine in the room that helped a lot - so overall, super recommended!

Tub had rust. Wer were told designer toiletries would be provided, ive never heard of the brands of shower gels in the shower.. we couldn't even use rhe shower. The air fresheners on each floor were very loud and didn't smell good, the walls in the tools and halls and a weird greasy residue . The coffee machine in the room was caked in what looked like mildew and lime scale so I didn't use it. No free breakfast, just a coffee bar but other 4 star hotels provide a free breakfast, what gives? Elevator constantly stops at 4th floor for some reason... And we couldn't check in until 4pm which is rough when you're arriving from out of town on an early morning flight with no sleep. Most hotels do the latest check-ins at 1 or 2 :/ Had I known all this I would have spent the extra $100 per night to stay at the hyatt to avoid such an uncomfortable experience. The beds and customer service were great tho tbh.. everything else was kinda disappointing For just one night it's okay ish Any more than that , I wouldn't teccomend.

This hotel isn’t the best place to stay. I paid for an upgraded room with a balcony. When we got there they said they didn’t have one. Didn’t offer me anything not even an apology or refund. Room was old heat didn’t work on half of the room. I will definitely not be staying again. The staff in the bar the old lady needs to not work with people at all. The female valet parking assistance needs someone to retrain. When they change $40 a day pretty sure most people would like to be talked to be nice.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We checked in on December 11 and had no issues that night. On December 12 around 11:20 pm, our key cards suddenly stopped working and we were completely locked out of room 402, with all our belongings and medications inside. Front desk attempted to reprogram the cards multiple times with no success. A front desk agent came upstairs and confirmed the door would not open. She contacted the manager (Anthony Farah), who refused to come in or provide a solution and said nothing would be done until the next day. We were given another room but without access to our personal items, clothes, toiletries, or medication. I am pregnant and clearly explained that I have prescribed medications that must be taken at specific times. Because of this situation, I was unable to take my full medication that night. The stress and lack of urgency were unacceptable. We were told the door would be opened at 7:00 am. No one contacted us. When we called at 9:00 am, they were already attempting to open the door without us present, despite us specifically requesting to be there. Only one maintenance person tried for a long time before finally forcing the door open at approximately 9:30 am — almost 10 hours after we were first locked out. During this entire time, we had no access to basic necessities. One of my companions also had her medication inside the room. To make matters worse, the manager never came to speak with us, refused to come in at all, and we were forced to check out at 11:00 am under threat of calling the police, despite the situation being entirely caused by the hotel’s failure. This was handled with a complete lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic guest care. A hotel that cannot ensure access to rooms or handle medical situations responsibly should not be trusted. I strongly do not recommend staying here. To clarify the record: I’ve added a picture of our reservation, which was made for 4 people and not 2. And yes, we were charged, I’ve added proof as well. The apartment-style suite referenced in your response was not requested by us. It was assigned solely because the hotel was unable to open our original room. This was not an upgrade we asked for, but a temporary solution due to a failure of access to the room we had already paid for. Access to our original room — where all of our personal belongings were located — was not restored until approximately 9:30 a.m. the following morning, and only after we repeatedly insisted on retrieving our items. During this time, we were unable to access essential personal belongings. Once access was finally granted, we had to move all of our belongings ourselves to the temporary room simply to shower and prepare to leave. Due to the treatment received and the overall handling of the situation, we chose to check out early and relocate to another hotel for the remainder of our stay. This response is provided to correct factual inaccuracies and to give future guests an accurate account of our experience.
