Little further from the center of Nashville than I had hoped but the hotel itself is fantastic. We have ended up staying here 2 times already because of the hotel itself. We have family in Nashville so we are here all the time. It’s so nice and the lobby is really cool.
I am writing this review while still staying at the hotel as I did not want to forget all the positives I have seen in the day since arriving. Unfortunately? I see many reviewers already commented/provided feedback on similar experiences. The hotel staff is one of the kindest, welcoming I have met; and this includes my stays in American and European hotels. The breakfast is a notch above other Tru hotels---with state of the art machines minimizing mess in the breakfast area. The little pool table area is a nice touch. The selection of items around the front desk almost makes it look like a clean, convenient mini mart. The location seems to be 25--35 minutes from anywhere we want to go---including The Listening Room, Bluebird and downtown--without the high room and parking costs. Minor concerns are an intermittent noise/bang from the fridge, the table being near the
HVAC which blows directly on the person sitting (yes it moves but there are minimal wall locations---to the left side of the HVAC unit?)---and my wife thinks one more chair would help. I am typing in the chair and all she has is the bed to sit.

Best place to stay!!! Staff is all so sweet, had a LOVELY chat with one of the housekeepers Keely and she was a SWEETHEART! Gave us extra towels an extremely good recommendation for a place only a couple miles away and it was 10/10! Definitely staying here next time!
The ladybug slamming into my workspace and knocking me out of concentration was the last straw. I keep hearing it clumsily slam around the wall and ceiling, but like im not about to kill a symbol of luck? Rather I will stare at it with fear in my heart.
Not just me, my coworker mentioned 4 of the blasted vermen in their room, and then it spread to another coworker saying they also had one. Silly me, believing i was safe as they all abanonded me onto a dofferent floor. Shall I return, I will update if they have taken over further or not...
Aside from that, the mini fridge has no temperature control so it froze my bottle of milk , so my pop tart was eaten dry... another tragedy I think. On top of that, my energy drink froze inside the mini fridge as well so I had to leave the can in a plastic bag so it would not get everywhere - a plastic bag I brought with me since the trash cans do not already come with anything inside. You just have the metal tin.
The leftovers ive been hoarding to avoid going down for breakfast are all frozen over as well. Look, its not even on the top shelf, it all just has ice on it.... which would not be a problem in literally any other hotel because every other hotel ive been in tends to have a microwave in the room. These do not. There is one microwave and it is in the lobby.
And look, if I have to go down the hall and down the elevator in my pj's and fuzzy socks to microwave my maruchan cup in the middle of the night, imma be a little mad especially when theres a weird guy w big eyes tweaking out at the coffee bar, staring at me and my coworkers.
The air conditioning. Look, ill be real, im a monster, I love having my room as high a temperature as possible. If im not melting, im freezing. Anemic? Unimportant! Let me burn! Allow me this privilege of unrestrained heat - my partner and electric company will NEVER give me such a luxury as 80 degree heat.
HOWEVER , the air conditioning machine is so... cheap. TACKTACKTACKTACK- after it gets too hot I guess?? I dunno, I just know its screaming at me every few minutes and then it starts shooting out cold air despite being set at a higher temperature.
The desk is right beside the air-conditioning and so now im freezing with a blanket and a jacket because I have work to do and the air conditioner keeps yelling at me before spitting out cold air again... oh god, and ive lost track of the lady bug now. Please tell my family I was brave.
OH - last one - shower is alright, except just know the door doesnt quote touch the bottom of the shower, there is a slight gap there, so expect the floor to be drenched in water after ur shower. Hope that doesnt cause mold down the line.
But the TV does connect to my Netflix so id say thats definetly a win from the Hilton across the road!
If you DONT want ur food to freeze, u want a microwave and even a coffee machine in ur room, u want a bathtub/ shower situation that doesnt soak the floor of ur bathroom, u want a working air conditioner, or u even want a ladybug free experience... try a different hotel because the Tru will not be for you.
An okay stay for just one night while passing through the area....
Pros:
The theming in the lobby area is actually cute and colorful.
The lady at check was very nice and accommodating to our needs. We booked earlier that day and she was able to get us rooms right across from each other.
The staff in general were very friendly and kind.
Beds are comfortable and the foam pillows are actually decent.
Breakfast is okay, just your average continental like one with scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereals and bagels/bread. Their pancake machine is the best part.
Cons:
Newer hotel but cheap construction...if you're not a sound sleeper, bring earplugs. It's a little ways from the highway but you can hear plenty of noise from the road if your room faces the front. I slept in a room facing the back and was woken up by the garbage dumpster being emptied for a few minutes at 4:30 am.
The interior walls are also thin, so we heard the TV next door late into the night and then people walking above us early in the morning. We understand that they have laminate flooring (which makes sound echo) because it's probably easier to clean, since they allow pets.
Of our two rooms neither floor looked like it had actually been cleaned for a while. You could see dirty shoe prints everywhere, dust bunnies, and crumbs. I got part of the entryway a little cleaner myself just by wiping it with a wet wash cloth! Other surfaces like the tables and night stands didn't seem very clean either. There were stains in other random places, such as the shower floor, one of the pillows, and lipstick was on the light switch in the bathroom. We dealt with it for one night, but it felt gross.
Finally, the A/C heating units are the cheap, crummy, and noisy wall units that you see at any other value hotel, they do not work the way you want them to. The controls are confusing.
