Have never previously stayed at Tru by Hilton in Cadillac Jack's. However, for THEE SAME COIN-IN LEVEL OF PLAY as I and a couple other people I talked to had previously engaged in, Cadillac Jack's had apparently decided to slash our comps......where I had received the SpringHill suites on every previous trip to Deadwood and Cadillac Jack's, the resort manager (a kind and very responsive gentleman named Tyler) had NOW offered me Tru by Hilton.
Allrighty then....well, the room was "Meh!" on a good day. Wasn't horrible, but certainly was not my scene
I like the fact that something, anything, at all is available to eat 24/7 in the lobby of Tru, but you pay for that when you get a $9 plus tax microwave burrito.....or a four dollar can of Pringles.
The whole decor and theme was bizarre.....24/7 coffee and tea was very nice, and the whole foosball tables and sort of central lounge theme was very reminiscent of youth hostel heavily geared towards Generation Z.
The room was OK.....and that's a little bit on the generous side....there were a few random hairs in the shower from the previous guests, the TV was very large, but the room size itself was absurdly inadequate. What this basically was was the world's smallest Generation Z STEM nerd University dorm room, with completely inadequate storage due to the absurdly small size and cutesy little suggestions about what to do with the rest of your stuff if you can't find a place to put it (which you won't be able to)!!
You ARE permitted to use the hot tub and pool at SpringHill suites, but it is a very long slog all the way across the casino from one end to the other wearing a swimsuit and flip-flops 🤪
No room safe in these rooms at a casino property was also a nice touch.
I mean.....yeah.....it certainly worked and, again, it was NOT bad - however it's more so for maybe somebody celebrating their 21st birthday or graduation from college or a budget-restricted traveller, or something like that.....not really suitable for a mature frequent gambler.

The elevator buttons will probably confuse you and take you to the 3rd floor. They have little roomba-looking robots you can order to bring you amenities (for a fee of course) and casino is on the first floor. Rooms were quiet when I stayed.

They charge $15+ per day for parking but don't tell you until after you check out. Very deceptive.

I was really disappointed with my stay here from Oct 6–9. I’ll start with the good: breakfast was solid, the staff working the breakfast area were great, and the location was perfect for my needs.
However, the room situation was terrible. The first room I checked into was dirty—hair in the corners, floors not swept, and long strands of hair on the mattress when I checked under the sheets. On top of that, there were dead bugs on the floor.
The front desk gentleman was professional and moved me to a new room right away, which I appreciated. But the second room had a serious bug problem. At first I saw two, then four, and by the end of the night I had removed five bugs from my room. When I came back from my conference the next day, there were six more. Bugs were also all over the hallway, some alive and some dead. It was disgusting and made it impossible to relax. I didn’t kill the bugs. I wiped in tissue And flush down the toilet because killing them would release a foul odor. They were on the floor and on walls. I’m bald so the long pieces of hair are not mine!
I went back to the front desk to explain, and the young lady working didn’t seem to care at all. No apology, no concern, nothing. I worked in hospitality for over 5 years and I know issues happen, but customer service and empathy are basic — and that was completely missing here.
I was so uncomfortable I didn’t even stay in my room the last night. I left and stayed with a friend at another hotel.
If I return to this area, I most likely won’t stay here again. Photos will be attached.
