We scheduled late check out days earlier. On the day of check out, I went to load some of our belongings in the car and when I returned our room door was propped open and the lights were on. I almost lost it because my kids were in the room…one being a toddler. I immediately walked up to the manager named Hailey, and asked her if she just opened our room door and she said, “yes, it looked clean in there so I propped it open.” I told her my kids were in there and we had late check out. Her response was, “it says 11am check out on my paper.” That’s a very poor excuse on why our safety was disregarded. If need be, go into your system every morning and mark on your paper who has late check out. That’s not hard or complicated. No one should feel violated the way we did. Also, we were charged $4.26 a day for parking. Hailey, the same manager that propped our room door open, was the one who checked us in and did not mention a daily fee for parking. This isn’t Atlanta or a resort…it’s Summerville. Why are they charging for parking? Our room smelled like a zoo so we had to buy some Febreeze air freshener just to make it bearable. The receptionist that checked us out wrote a note for Adrianna to contact me about the situation, but I never heard from her.

We were there during the Christmas weekend, so they were short-staffed. That being said, I will assume the issue with our room not getting cleaned during the 3 days we were there is not the norm. The good: The room was great. We had the double queen studio. They provide everything you need in a kitchen. The room was clean and very dark with the shade down. Comfortable beds and pillows. Shannon was awesome. I've stayed in a lot of places, but she managed to stand out and made our stay comfortable. She was super nice to my children. There is no shortage of restaurants, gas stations, and groceries within walking distance. Decent area. The bad: The pool was cloudy. Breakfast was the same on all 3 days. Their system blocks you from using a Fire Stick, which is lame. It's 2026. This needs to go away. Staff were limited. But the worst part is getting charged a parking fee. This alone will keep me from coming back. And a $75 "incidental" charge is ridiculous for this type of hotel. There is nothing I can charge to my room. I used an aggregator to book the room, and these charges were not on there. Nobody likes surprises. Overall, the hotel is decent, but the extra fees and lack of food variety when staying for multiple days are no bueno. HomeWood and Embassy are better options.
