The room had a great layout, it had a area with a sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and drawer and cabinet to store food. The bed was so comfortable and I enjoyed all the pillows I had. The ocean and beach view was fantastic, the balcony had two chairs, and the air conditioner worked great . I will be returning to this location.

This hotel is a superior option for those traveling on a budget and looking for good bang for their buck!
It's ocean front, close to Main St, and has the basics like free parking and breakfast, plus a few extra amenities like pools and a lazy river. But the thing that stands out the most is the impeccable customer service! Here's how my experience in January 2026 went:
I took my grandma to NMB for the Elvis festival to celebrate her birthday on January 30th. We checked on on 1/30 and planned to stay until 2/1, but coincidentally, the area we are from was slated to be hit by a major winter storm on the afternoon of 1/31. We ended up checking out a day early after getting news that we needed to get back home ASAP before the storm hit since it was proving to be more intense than originally predicted.
As we packed up to leave quickly, I called down to the front desk to inquire about potentially receiving a refund for the night we would not be staying, fully expecting the answer to be no. To my surprise, Dan was kind enough to honor this request, stating "i can help you out in this situation." Not only that, but when I got to the front desk to check out, he offered us some water bottles for the road and wished us safe travels following a friendly conversation. He absolutely did not have to extend that kindness and courtesy, but he did and I was very grateful.
Beyond this shining example of human compassion, other highlights included a beautiful ocean front view, very clean rooms, and easy access to nearby attractions. We obviously did not try the pools, lazy river, or hot tubs this time since it was very cold, though they looked very nice. We also did not try the breakfast this time, but the dining room looked lovely.
The only downside to the property is that it consists of 3 seperate buildings, which are spread out a little, and has limited parking unless you park across the street from whichever building you are staying in. Breakfast is served in the main building, so you do have to walk outside and to the main building for that if you are staying in either of the other two. In the spring/summer, this probably isnt a big deal at all. Just keep it in mind, especially if ease of access is important to your party. You can probably call ahead and ask to be placed in the main building if you want to minimize your walking distance to breakfast/your vehicle, which is what I'll do nect time I stay here.
All in all, the customer service alone earned a 10/10, and it only got better from there. I will certainly be returning to my new go-to hotel in NMB soon. Thank you Best Western Ocean Sands, and especially Dan!

Went down to NMB for a quiet long weekend and thought to stay somewhere where we’ve not stayed before and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the updated and very clean room with a better than normal breakfast. Many of the chain hotels offer breakfast and by most standards, they are pretty low bar. However this hotel had a better quality low bar breakfast. Also, although right on the beach, only one restaurant/bar is in close proximity unless you’re up for a walk. This was the only downside we encountered.
I came into town for my sister’s wedding and needed something fast, affordable, and in the right location. Money is tight right now, so booking through Expedia and being able to pay over time was a big plus. Traveling with a family of five means everyone needs their own bed—otherwise arguments are guaranteed.
I found Best Western Ocean Sands in North Myrtle Beach and decided to give it a try.
First impressions:
I won’t lie—the outside doesn’t look very inviting. But I was raised not to judge a book by its cover. I already knew what kind of room we booked, even though my family was definitely giving me the side-eye walking down the hallway.
That changed real quick once we opened the door.
At first, they saw the two beds. Then they looked to the right and realized there was a hallway leading to a full kitchen and living space. In the living area, there was a sofa bed AND a Murphy bed. Two of my kids slept comfortably there, one had her own big bed, and my husband and I took the other. The room was spacious, and best of all—no fighting all weekend.
Staff & Check-In:
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and check-in was easy. There is a small hotel fee if you book through Expedia, which I already knew about and didn’t mind paying the extra $37.
Hot Water (a BIG win):
I wasn’t feeling great during the trip, and hot baths were the only thing keeping me going. Let me just say—the hot water NEVER ran out. I love what southern folks call “devil’s piss water” (aka really hot), and this hotel absolutely delivered.
Amenities:
They have an indoor pool, hot tub, lazy river, and an outdoor pool, which is a nice bonus for families.
Why it’s not a full 5 stars:
Cleanliness. This is the one star it lost.
At first glance, everything looked clean—but once you notice one thing, you start noticing others.
• The window seals hadn’t been wiped down
• The sofa bed sheets were dirty (I had to go get clean ones myself)
• The toilet bowl wasn’t properly cleaned
It’s one of those things you can’t unsee once you notice it—especially after hot baths, when steam makes everything more visible.
Final thoughts:
Despite the cleanliness issues, I’d still give this hotel a solid 4 stars. It met our needs, gave everyone their own bed, had great hot water, friendly staff, and a convenient location.
Would I stay here again?
Yes, I would—just hoping for better attention to detail on cleanliness next time.
The best feature of this hotel was that it is right on the beach overlooking the ocean. Other than that, the hotel is Disgusting. Rooms are dilapidated with broken furniture and rusty shower fixtures, and smelly both inside and out in the hallways. The fitness room is tiny and equipment is falling apart. The indoor pool looks dirty and you can only access it by going outside first. Staff is decidedly unpolished. The cleaning crew hangs out in the lobby. Overall the look and atmosphere is of an impoverished old age home. One star only because of the great ocean view. Management should be ashamed. I prepaid and left a week early because it was so depressing. It didn't matter that I lost $600...I just had to get out.
