Worst Hilton Property we have ever experienced. The property was never updated when the Citadel students moved out in the 1700’s. Elise at the desk is in need of customer service training as she is not friendly. We got screwed with a $400 rate for seriously a suite at a Motel 6. The Valet was no where to be found 2 x we needed our vehicle. Ending this terrible stay I would say the only positive would be Justin who works the concierge area; super helpful, smiling and kind, young man; he was impressive.

Justin, the concierge, was incredibly proactive, friendly, and helpful in showing us some great ideas for doing our own self guided walking tour of historic Charleston, which was exactly what we wanted. He was practical, listened to what we were interested in, and shared excellent ideas.

Location? Fantastic. Staff? Friendly.
The hotel? Positively the most outdated, borderline awful hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The carpet is horrendously old. Rooms are completely dated, paint chipping, musty, and don’t give you a clean feeling. Oh and windows? Nope. No view to the outside.
It’s a beautiful old building…that has no business being a hotel. No fault of the staff who were super friendly, but also were not surprised when we switched hotels after one night.
Hilton, do better. Please.

Stayed at the Embassy Suites Historic Charleston. The location is great and the building itself is a true historic landmark that adds character to the stay — one of the few hotels in the world actually set inside a historic fort / arsenal structure.
However, the hotel itself is in need of significant renovation. The carpets are worn and stained, the furniture is dated, there are broken tiles in both public spaces and the room bathrooms, and peeling paint is noticeable throughout the property. Staff was friendly, but the overall condition really shows its age and needs significant investment and upgrades. Ultimately would not recommend staying here and better off taking chances elsewhere where. According to the history of the building, the hotel opened up in 1996, and it looks like that’s the last time any renovations were made. This place has a lot of potential.

Our room was sold out from underneath us. We paid for Thursday-Sunday night and arrived early Friday morning due to flights being delayed. Room was not ready. Young woman at front desk was rude to everyone and not in uniform. They did nothing to make it better. Said they would call when room was ready, but never called so we headed to hotel after waiting 5 hours and magically it was ready.
Some of our towels were dirty.
Room was 217 in the corner of the 2nd floor. Room was sizeable with a whirlpool. Whirlpool didn't work. Told front desk and they did nothing to help. Said they would send maintenance and they never came. Room smelled like a wet dog. It was an awful smell every time we came back to our room.
Breakfast was nice but one day they had nothing clean - no plates or forks. Main breakfast room can get very crowded depending on population of occupants.
Hotel is aged and a lot of carpet in a pet friendly hotel.
The only positive was the location. Located between Meeting and King, we were in walking distance to most of everything we wanted to do. If you have mobility issues, this hotel is 1 mile from the French Quarter. Farmers Market outside the door on Saturday was nice.
If you want an aged, stinky hotel within walking distance to some things, this hotel is for you.
