    I've been a loyal guest at this hotel for years, but today I encountered a problem. I needed to cancel my reservation after missing the deadline because I had to take my pet to the emergency vet, where I spent three hours. Despite explaining the situation, I was informed I would be charged regardless. I politely requested if, as it's my first time, they could waive the fee. However, during both calls, the staff were unempathetic, grew more stern, repeated their points, cut me off, and claimed it was normal practice. Frustrated, I told them I was speaking and that I would never return. It’s very disappointing that they couldn’t show any compassion or understanding, especially on Christmas Eve. I would not recommend staying here. Do better, Hilton. Do better, the person I spoke with today. Just do better. Things are hard for people this holiday season. Do better. UPDATE! I followed up with them as they told me below, and all they offered was an apology, and that was it. You really should do better, Hampton. As I mentioned, I will never stay at your hotel again. Thank you for making my Christmas even more stressful and terrible than it already was and thank you for rerunning the same talking points.

    My fiance and his Dad needed a place to stay outside of Allentown, PA for the night and this Hampton Inn & Suites popped up with very favorable reviews. I booked the room on booking.com around 10:30pm EST on 11/9 and advised them just to phone the hotel directly to let them know they'd be arriving past 12am on 11/10 to ensure it wouldn't be an issue. My FIL spoke to the front desk who said not a problem. Well, I guess upon them arriving it WAS a problem. The front desk attendant told them they might see a cancellation fee and gave them a huge attitude, even after they explained they called ahead and were assured it wouldn't be a problem. Their room was filthy, women's hair on one of the beds and pillows, terrible smell, but they toughed it out since they were only there for a few hours. It's now just after 9:30am EST on 11/10 and they're checking out. We will be escalating this to Management as this is unacceptable, no matter the time of night and I hope the front desk attendant is spoken with.
