Just now getting to writing a review, but my mother and I stayed here for three nights 8/14-8/16, (checking out the morning of the 17th) She had a camp thing on the 15th-16th, so it was just me Friday night into saturday evening. So I woke up at 4am saturday morning to a VERY hot room and the AC making all kinds of noise, plus a thin whisp of smoke. I tried to turn it off but it kept shutting down/trying to activate again. I called the front desk and said they should really send someone up to deal with it because it was SMOKING (not heavily, but certainly more than an AC unit SHOULD smoke) and the guy, - Eric/Erik - while very polite, said, "There's not really anything we can do about that, since our maintenance doesn't get in until 8am. But if it does anything else, let us know."
So I try going back to bed in a sweltering room that smells like burnt plastic & chemicals and it's not working, so I go down to the front desk to ask if I can switch rooms. Same guy was there, and he was very polite, I was able to swap without any problems, but he should have offered to switch me on the first phone call, PLUS he should have been able to shut the power off to that unit or the entire room via breaker. And I had to move my and my mom's stuff down the hall by myself, but that was just annoying. All told it took about four trips. But that's not all!
Saturday afternoon I'm feeling a bit nosy, so I go down to the front desk - it's a different person, and she's got a small line of people, with one gentleman standing off to the side as she helps someone else. I get my turn and I get a couple snacks charged to the room, plus I ask, "so I swapped rooms because my AC was broken and smoking last night, I was just wondering if you guys found whatever was wrong with it? It was room 413." And I kid you not, the guy next to me says, "that's MY room!"
"WOW, really??"
"Yeah, it's been turning off and on all day, and it's really hot."
And the poor woman at the desk days, "hmm... I don't see any maintenance requests in the notes..."
So apparently that night I called and went down to tell the front desk man that my AC was broken - in the middle of SUMMER - and SMOKING, he thought it wasn't important enough to even make a note of it?? And THEN they give the room with the potential FIRE HAZARD to some other guy?? I understand it was the weekend, and a hotel wants to make as much money as it can, but you can't put guests in a dangerous situation like that. Messed up.
