Had a real amazing stay at this newcomer. Even before the spa and restaurant were officially open, we chose to spend the weekend here. We were blown away with the attention to detail in design, offerings, and communication with staff. They really are hitting the mark with service at this hotel. We spent a good amount of time in our quaint room, but never felt clousterphobic. Our east facing windows provided a stunning view of the meandering river heading down into the gorge. We had amazing panoramic views on the 4th floor, if we chose to go to the rooftop bar and enjoy the firepit. The hotels location is so conveniently located we were never a walk away from anything we wanted to for exercise, food/drink exploration and shopping. Can't wait to come back and try it once the spa is open. The amenities look very sleek and cool!

A wonderful addition to the Hood River community. It is a beautiful space with a great bar and food. I had lived in HR and was waiting for the Lightwell to open. I moved back east before I saw it open but just happened to come back for a visit with perfect timing to check it out. The hotel took longer than anticipated to open, but I think it is well worth it. The spa and rooftop weren't opened yet when I was there last week. I'm sure when they do open, it will completely elevate the experience. So, there were a few things that happened while there but the team working is constantly working to improve the experience. My room was small but perfect for a few days. Upon arrival, there was a lovely bottle of sparking wine (nice touch). The bathroom was lovely, good shower and water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. My room was quiet and the room is equiped with a white noise machine. The hotel is close to the train but I didn't even hear it from my room. The A/C was locked when I arrived but they came up and unlocked it and I was able to adjust the temperature in the room. I was a solo traveler so it worked well for me. They do have some hooks on the wall to hang things as well a small area where the robes are that you can hang items. I wish the team at the Lightwell all the best and know it will be a huge success!! Congratulations.

We just returned from a weekend stay at this new hotel. It looks beautiful and has lots of potential. We initially booked because of the spa but were then told it wouldn’t be open yet. We were offered a 10% discount for our room which I did not see reflected in my statement. We were told the room was pet friendly so we brought our dog along. The ads say to expect a dog welcome package upon checkin including treats, dog bed and bags. None of them were there when we arrived. They did bring up a dog bed on request and we were told the rest of the welcome package would arrive in the morning, but it never did. There really isn’t a great spot to take your dog out to do their business either. We found a patch of grass across the street at the railroad station, but prior to that the front desk person didn’t seem to realize having a place for dogs to go would be a need. We were disappointed to not have a fridge in our room since they left us champagne for our anniversary. It was in an ice bath but the ice had long since melted before we got there. They were able to store some of our leftovers in “the back” but wherever that was ended up being a freezer because we received our bags back with our food frozen solid. No microwave to heat anything and no in room coffee were also disappointments. The bed was very comfortable. The thermostat took some work to get going, but we accidentally figured it out. The room was very warm and stuffy without it. We enjoyed the tv to watch football. We were disappointed that our room was never serviced after the first night. And there was what sounded like a phone vibrating in the wall behind our bed. I was grateful for the supplied earplugs. We didn’t get a chance to use the bar, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. The fire alarm went off and we evacuated the building only to watch the people in the bar cheering every time it would start and then stop again while we stood out in the cold. I do think this place has a lot of potential but it sure doesn’t seem like the right hand knew what the left hand was doing.

Rough start but tons of potential.
Just stayed at lightwell and while not everything was great, it has potential to be.
Good
- Bar and bartender was great. Drinks were well made and priced well.
- Room was upgraded to suite and the room was nice. Bed comfortable and the shower was great.
-Location the breakfast place across the street had great breakfast and coffee.
Negative
-Concierge - reached out prior to stay for a bottle of red wine in the room for my wife and while confirmed, never received. Also reached out the next morning for cream for coffee and was told they were too new and to call back later.
Mini store doesn't have good choices for drinks and snacks to take back to the room.
Lastly, Fire alarm went off during the night for way too long. What made it worse is no direction to guests who came down.

I want to start by saying this hotel looks incredible. The bar staff was fantastic and the location is great. To the rooms...TINY, like not even a place to set your luggage. HOT, in the rooms...unbearably warm and they have the thermostat locked so you cant adjust the temp. It was 72 in our room all night, with the windows opened the four inches it will open. LOUD, I get that its an old building, but it is very loud, all night. Good luck getting a good night sleep here between the hot-box rooms and the noise. Hopefully the owners/management see this can can make some adjustments, as I know its newly opened. Having the thermostats locked is ridiculous.
