My stay here was just okay. I wasn’t feeing well in my room and when I asked the night front staff about CO detectors they said they didn’t know if they were in the room. This is a safety feature so I just assumed all staff knew about all the hotels safety features. I eventually found out the rooms do not have CO detectors.
When I arrived in my room there was also a lot of hair in the sink. I arrived really late and was exhausted so I just washed it down myself but it was gross. Breakfast was just okay too. Muffins and bagels were all stale and hard. The price of this hotel is comparable to a lot of the newer hotels in town too and I personally did not find it worth the price unfortunately

If 5 star is top-tier luxury, then it would be quite a stretch to say this is a 4 star location. However, in Canada these ratings vary widely depending on which organization is awarding the stars.
I'd say it was a solid 3 stars. I chose Hampton Inn because it was the highest rated (on Google) hotel in Sudbury. Conveniently it was also the first hotel we came to on the way into Sudbury.
PROS:
- quite clean and well maintained (although there's some power outlet device on the bedside table in both rooms - stayed separate nights in separate rooms - that appeared filthy).
- spacious rooms
- conveniently located on edge of Sudbury with quick access to/from Hwy 17
CONS:
- very thin and wrinkled linens (better quality in this area alone would likely do considerable to impress)
- thin low loft pillows (but with multiple of them it was comfortable to sleep, just difficult to sit up comfortably in bed to watch tv)
- HDMI only connection to tv (no bluetooth), although you can enter a code to connect your Youtube acct to the tv (Maybe others travel with an HDMI cable, but it never occurred to me to do so)
- the table and bedside lights have extremely bright bulbs, and fixed shades ... so you can't adjust the light or where it is pointing, and it's BRIGHT.
- "Black-out curtains" advertised, however, the only curtains that I could close were the sheer drapes -- the solid curtains are screwed to the ceiling, and not on a track, and don't close. In the summer, when it's light out at 6 a.m., I don't know that I'd be so happy if I was trying to sleep. I did call the front desk about this and was told that he knows nothing of curtains because he's only worked there a few months (but he was very pleasant and polite).
- corridors do have a stale cigarette smoke to them, but the rooms didn't.
Would I stay there again if I ever return to Sudbury? Yes, unless there's a better competitor (which there doesn't seem to be at the moment). All in all, it was very good. It really wouldn't take much to positively impact guest experience/impression.

Honestly, the location was great and worked well for what we needed for our booking.
The rooms were okay—there was some visible mold along the caulking, which I assume may just be a timing issue for the next round of maintenance. After each housekeeping visit, the room was clean and we had no issues.
Service:
The Front Desk team was helpful, and the breakfast staff did a great job keeping things tidy considering the high number of guests.
However, the reason for my lowest score is due to one individual. I’m not sure if he was a Manager or Security, as he did not introduce himself and had no visible identification. He was wearing a winter coat and came across as being on a power trip. There was no valid reason for him to engage with my family or me the way he did. I understand and respect the policies you have posted throughout the hotel, but respect needs to go both ways.
Because of this interaction, we’ve decided not to use this hotel again. Sudbury offers multiple options within the same radius that meet our needs, and unfortunately one bad experience can overshadow the good.
One bad apple really can ruin it for everyone.

Staff very unfriendly. The staff were threatening to kick everyone out our entire team when it was not our team causing any issues. They should have been addressing specific individuals. For the price we had to pay to stay here staff could have had better attitudes.
