The Tru Hilton in Wauseon Ohio was top notch! I travel a lot between work and travel volleyball, so I have experienced a lot of different hotel entities so when I say I was very impressed with the customer service, cleanliness and all the amenities they offer! Beautiful hotel also! Thank you Tru Hilton Wauseon Ohio, I’ll be back for sure!

Modern, clean, and nice hotel.
1 star due to the interaction I had with General Manager, Ravisher Singh.
I received a call from Mr. Singh regarding being charged for a smoking fee so i called back to gather information and then went to the hotel to dispute and understand the charge.
Upon arrival I asked about the charge and was informed marijuana was found in my room by housekeeping and the room allegedly smelled like it. The picture provided showed <.5 gram of shake left over from when i was rolling a joint on the desk that must have fell on the floor. Definitely not enough to create an odor and i informed him I did have it in the room, but I travel for work extensively and always smoke outside or even in my car if it’s cold. This led me to ask if the odor was noticed immediately and he responded by deflecting, but stating that it is illegal in Ohio which i informed him was false and he was not aware. His response caused me to believe i was just being extorted due to the marijuana being found and trying to charge me extra. I then asked since I travel so often and am a habitual smoker that has never had this issue since I smoke outside what I could do in the future to prevent this issue? To which he stated I could use spray to eliminate the smell so i responded with “I use ozium always.” He then told me “Oh yeah that’s a really good one!”. I then asked if i smoked outside and sprayed ozium on my clothes (which i did) and didn’t smoke in the room how could i be charged a smoking fee? He continued to insist that the odor was “very potent”. So i asked the question if a guest smoked a cigarette in a similar manner and then went to their room and smelled like smoke would they be held to the same standard? He didn’t answer the question, but instead insisted that marijuana was worse and had a stronger odor. Due to his constant deflection and lack of reasoning I decided to leave.
To clarify i’m not upset about being charged I am upset that Mr. Singh couldn’t articulate to me why i was being charged besides the claim of an odor. As a manager of a hotel with various guests and lifestyles i can respect wanting to maintain a clean and professional and healthy environment for majority of guests, but regardless of personal stance on marijuana if it is legal in your state and your facility has rules regarding it you should probably at minimum know it’s legal so you’re not treating guests with bias based on your personal thoughts.
I am an elite member with various hotels and have never had this issue. I’m a veteran and smoke medically. There are a lot of better options in the area that I will be staying at for future travels and hope that Mr. Singh was acting in good faith, but unfortunately it did not appear that way and I believe if the minuscule amount of marijuana wasn’t found then this wouldn’t be an issue.

Such an excellent experience. Contemporary, comfortable, and the rooms laid out with functionality in mind. The bed was comparable to a higher end hotel. Staff were helpful and went over and above. I’m so glad we stopped at this hotel. Highly recommend!

We love Tru hotels and the person who checked us in was fantastic. However, we thought the breakfast was not so good. It was limited, the foods available were ok, not great, and the fruit looked pitiful. Granted, it was winter and fruits are not that great in the winter. The breakfast really, really, needed to be expanded and a littler fresher. Why charge members $2 for a bottle of water? That’s another question. Make it more homey. The whole thing was very sterile and unwelcoming. Actually, very unwelcoming.

I have traveled a lot the last 6 months and Hilton has been my go to place to stay. A few things stood out to me about this location. First, my room smelled like a diaper. There is a plumping or ventilation issue in this building. Next, the prices of the pantry items were rather expensive. I was told by an employee that the normal size bag of candy was so expensive because it was a king size package, it was not king size. The container at the coffee station with warm water was brownish and a bug came out of it into my cup. I brought this to the employees' attention. I was told he would take care of it but, I don't believe he did anything to clean the container or water because when I returned in a few moments the water was still brown from the container and the employee said he had taken care of it. Questionable prices and cleanliness.
