The Kirtland Temple offers free guided tours which you can procure by going into the visitors center. I highly recommend! You do not have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to go on a tour of the Kirtland Temple. This is a holy early 1800's building with religious and cultural significance. It is very beautiful and historically important to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and other denominations which considered this temple to be the first House of God built since the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. The faithful of this church believe that Jesus Christ himseld as well as other significant prophets of the Old Testament appeared here in person as resurrected beings or in vision. The building was also a school house. The building is an interesting example of architecture during this time period yet also very unique. There is no other building like this one in the entire world.

It is a brilliant white building but additionally the spirit shines even brighter. We enjoyed the tour and the spirit. 33 stairs to the 2nd floor, 33 to the 3rd floor. I took my time. Also loved seeing the Nativities from around the world.
