Tucked away on a hillside overlooking the Hudson River Highlands, The Abbey Inn is a unique full-service boutique hotel featuring 42 distinctive guest rooms and suites, stunning meeting and banquet rooms for any occasion, a full-service spa and the Apropos farm-to-table restaurant. Located on historic Fort Hill, where Washington’s army set up a key lookout post in the Revolutionary War, the 1902 convent of the Episcopal Sisters of Saint Mary’s has been beautifully repurposed as a secular retreat for today’s discerning travelers.
Multiple reviews highlighted poor service, including unresponsive staff, disorganized management, and lack of assistance during check-in and throughout stays.

I can't learn anything about their spa offerings or pricing because their website is so terribly organized

Charming hotel, but be very careful when booking your room.
We were surprised to discover that some rooms don’t have a proper bed at all, but instead come with a pull-out sofa for two people. In our case, the staff managed to switch our room, but it easily could have ended differently. Paying $400 per night to sleep on a pull-out sofa is simply unreasonable.

We stayed at The Abby Inn and Spa for a wedding, and even with the group rate, it was still very pricey. Our room had no view at all—you can’t even open the window because it faces “inside” the hotel, so you’re basically looking at people walking through the hallway.
Breakfast wasn’t included, but we still paid for it since there’s nothing nearby. The food itself was good, and the prices were reasonable. I really liked the bathroom—it was modern, bright, and very clean.
The location is beautiful. It’s right by a river with walking trails, which makes the area feel peaceful and scenic. The inn itself is stunning, but for us, it felt like a “visit once” kind of place rather than somewhere we’d return to often.

Be careful, booked with them about a week in advance. Booked the spa, and a nearby restaurant for my anniversary. Got a call the day of, literally a few hours before our check in. Somehow they overbooked and they canceled our reservation. Extremely disappointing, I had to cancel our spa reservations and our dinner reservation. They did not try to help or accommodate at all, basically just said sorry and have a nice day. Really disappointed, and let down. Be cautious about booking with them.

I am writing a review of the Abbey as a wedding venue. My daughter had her wedding here this October on a Friday. My biggest fear came to fruition. The Saturday bride ruined our day with her obnoxious wedding planner traipsing her family and wedding party all around the hotel. I could not believe how a wedding planner and officiant would use our ceremony space for a rehearsal while our harpist and myself were in the ceremony space all decorated by our florist after my husband asked them not to. Then I enter the space to place an item on the chairs for my guests and these slovenly people march down the isle and take seats in the first two rows. I asked the celebrant and wedding planner to leave and with classless self important demeanor proceeded without acknowledging my distress while I was dressed in my gown.
In order to get rid of them I had to use strong language. I was shaken to my core. The hotel allowed this to happen.
The sales manager told my daughter she could use the cornerstone room for photos at her tasting dinner months before. We get a call from the sales manager Angela Thorne saying she wanted to know where in the contract it was promised to my daughter. It was not being used and is part of the Abbey where many brides take photo’s. She kept bothering us about using a wedding planner when the maid of honor is an event professional that helped us along with myself and my daughter keeping on top of everything. Angela also wanted to know where our 11,000 balance is. Can you imagine paying the final bill weeks before and you are told they didn’t see it. She gave the groom’s parents with one of them being 90 with a cane a room on the third floor at the end of a long hall far away from the elevator. My room wasn’t nice with a filthy carpet and scuffed walls. I had to plead with the front desk to change it. At the cocktail hour they gave us a pasta table without the cold items on it and the pasta was lukewarm. No sauces. The ravioli was one big lump stuck together in a chaffing dish. The pesto rigatoni was dry and who wants pesto? The lobster soup at the tasting had claw meat in it but not at our reception. The branzino came with a very salty risotto which was inedible. They never gave my daughter wedding cake to take home. Also, Angela said we could have a bread service and at dinner there was none. I had to ask the maitre d for it. They later brought out day old cheap rolls and dry cut pieces of white bread. Not what you get at the restaurant.
The servers however were very good and the day of staff Madison and Meghan were lovely. Angela was there and was curt to my daughter and maid of honor which she later denied in an email to me. They can’t keep staff running weddings. They changed a magnificent chef and event menu with pedestrian quality for both.
