My family and I have been staying at the Lake Placid Crowne Plaza for over a decade. It is the only place we stay. We love Lake Placid and our boys (who are now 11 and 14) love this hotel- the pool is large and there is a hot tub. I love coming down and drinking coffee in the beautiful dining room overlooking the lake and mountains. The view of the mountains is one of the best in Lake Placid. The staff has always been kind. I see some comments here from other folks about it not being fancy enough or outdated decor- We have never felt that way. It has Adirondack charm and the staff has always been lovely. We look forward to coming back for years to come.

Great location, clean rooms. It’s an IHG hotel so understand that. Staff may be a little novice but overall it was a great long weekend.
We asked a staff member how we get to the fire pit so we can enjoy the outdoors. He gave the directions to around the front desk to the other side which led us to the patio area only to find out the pit was burning due to rain that came down earlier in the afternoon/evening. It’s minor but when you drag your tired kids who were getting excited to hang by the fire, it’s a pita to shift the energy.

This is probably THE best hotel at Mirror Lake. We've been coming for over 20 years. The spaciousness and the views are just what one wants while on vacation. The restaurant is lovely and the food and service fabulous. Breakfast is THE highlight. Have your omelette prepared right in front of you and all at a very fair price. That said it is clear that the number of people doing housekeeping has declined since the pandemic. Staff is accommodating. The hotel is def in need of new beds and some updating.

Rustic, clean hotel and rooms. Friendly service. Great location on top of hill overlooking mountains, lake and Main Street. Food at restaurants could be better.

This hotel claims to be dog friendly. Dog tolerant is more accurate. We pay a premium to bring our pet, but they are not allowed in common spaces. There is a lovely outdoor patio (photo attached), but pets are not allowed. When we asked why, we were told "It's state law". So we looked up state law. Yes, there are restrictions, but allowing dogs in restaurants and common areas is completely up to the establishment. So the front desk decieved us. Know also there are no containers for dog poop; we disposed of ours in a hotel bathroom. It should be noted that most restaurants in this area are NOT dog friendly. So, given the difficulty of finding a dog friendly restaurant, we decided to order room service. We had to go to the restaurant to pick it up. That's not room service; it's take out. The hotel has interesting architecture and common areas. The room was clean and comfy, but the HVAC is noisy and cycles on and off every 5 minutes. Of special note, we noticed that all of the doors on all of the stairways were blocked open : a major fire hazard. This was pointed out to the manager, who blew us off and told us the doors are "automatic". So why does every single stairway door have a sign on it that states it is a fire door: Keep Closed (see attached photo). In summary, the hotel is in a good location and the views are great, but the amenities and staff need improvement.
