I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars. It’s new, super clean, and the bed, sheets, and pillows were some of the best I’ve encountered (and I stay at a LOT of hotels).
The minor gripes I had were the TV is very awkwardly positioned to the far end of the room and can’t be angled to face the bed. There was no hot water in the sink - though in the shower it worked great, and the shower was very nice. There are no drawers and minimal storage space - just a few hooks and a luggage stand.
The main reason for 4 stars is the staff was absurdly loud outside of my room for almost two full hours Monday morning. This wasn’t an issue the other two mornings I was there, but they were yelling up and down the hall, slamming doors in rooms they were cleaning, and had walkies on full blast. This began around 8:15am, and even after I complained, it continued. It just felt really unsettling and unprofessional and really took away from an otherwise elevated hotel stay.
Location wise, it’s two blocks from the subway and super easy to get around.
Jahmil at the front desk was a standout.

My husband and I took a pre-Christmas research and writing trip to Harlem! What a joy to know that there is now a wonderful and beautiful hotel in this location. It was within walking distance of the Schomburg, museums, and more! The room was clean and organized - with service regularly provided. I found the bed to be quite comfortable and the shower felt amazing! This was all designed with care.
As a note to those who may be visiting or interested in doing so - the hotel is still being constructed - thus all of the buildings features are not yet complete. This, I believe, had a slight impact on our room because the water out of the faucet would periodically burst or gush out loudly while in use, rather than evenly, quietly and evenly flow out. It takes some getting used to and can be a bit surprising while teeth brushing! This may be resolved with time. Lastly, be sure to look into your room’s size before booking. We had a King bed, however, for a couple, I found the room to be on the smaller side, where there is not much room to maneuver. The bed takes up much of the space, and it is not possible to walk around it completely and one side of it is against the wall/window. Also, the sink is positioned outside of the bathroom, and in the space where the bed/table is located. For a single person, I could potentially see this working - but I would suggest couples do a double check and inquire about a larger room.
I gave an overall 3 because the room was very nice and clean (albeit very small) but there was no microwave OR refrigerator. This had to be called to the room (I called for the microwave which took about 20 minutes and was not the cleanest— no clue about the fridge situation). Service was pleasant and the location wasn’t too bad, but I wouldn’t do too much walking at night. Affordable and solid option for a quick trip.
PS I may be back for the pool it was in progress but seemed ok

I was so excited for this experience. I was excited to see my family in New York and to stay at a brand new hotel and wanted so badly to give them 5 stars. The room was nice, the area was great, and me and my husband had a great time. Here’s where it all went wrong. I paid for the room en route so that I could do the remote check in. I didn’t realize my Cash App card was linked to the charge (I usually use a credit card but I had recently changed cards). They tried to charge the card but because it was my Cash App card, it didn’t have the funds on it. I called the receptionist and told her I’m putting the money on it and to go ahead and charge for all 3 nights. While on the phone, everything happened in real time. Money came off my card, receptionist says it’s done, we hang up, everything is great. After the 3 nights, I checkout on the Hilton app and go stay with family. I get a call 2 hours later asking if I checked out. I told them I did it on the app and the lady says they can’t get the money. I explained that the money is already in pending, they have to do something on their end. I even called Cash App and they confirmed that the money was taken out of my account and the merchant was responsible for getting the funds, again, I already paid! Eventually, she decides (without telling me prior) to charge my husband’s card and I have to wait for my money to come back to me. Even then, everything would have been fine, but when I get my money back the very next day, $272 is missing. They charged me a smoking fee. Me and my husband do smoke, but NEVER IN OUR ROOMS BECAUSE WE ARE GROWN PEOPLE WITH SENSE. They claimed we smoked in the room because he threw his empty box in the trash when we checked out. This was clearly a retaliation for what happened beforehand. I’ve been dealing with this mess since CHRISTMAS EVE. Apparently, it doesn’t matter to Hilton if the patron has NO HISTORY of smoking in rooms, if the patron complains about the treatment they received from management and front desk employees, and you can be charged off of a lie. BEWARE WHEN YOU STAY HERE, YOU CAN BE CHARGED FOR SMOKING FEES WITHOUT NOTICE, MANAGEMENT CAN LIE, THE FRONT DESK PERSONNEL ARE INCOMPETENT, CHECK YOUR CHARGES. I have never experienced this at any hotel stay and I will no longer be using the Hilton app. The Bon Voy (Marriott app) has always been my go to but will now be my only because you only have one time to play with my money. I will be disputing the charge, I will be sending emails to every person in charge, and I will never spend my money with The George or any other Hilton property. Michael Rodriguez is a liar and a thief and Christina Seelochan should not work in hospitality if she can’t be hospitable. Same photo proof of my pending money I told them I sent the Sunday before and the checkout on the app. Both things they swore never happened. If they can lie about something I have proof of, they can lie about something I cannot prove.

A Perfect NYC Weekend Base — Comfort, Style & Soul in Harlem!
December 2025
We spent a long weekend at The George Hotel in Harlem and absolutely loved it. The location couldn’t be more convenient — just steps from the subway, making it so easy to explore every corner of the city.
From this stylish home base, we caught MJ the Musical on Broadway, dined in the Financial District at Serafina’s, wandered the Chelsea Market for unique finds, and soaked in live music and skyline views at City Winery’s Beatles Tribute Brunch. We also visited the 9/11 Memorial (moving and majestic) and admired the stunning design of the Oculus — all seamlessly accessible thanks to the hotel’s prime spot.
Back “home,” The George delivered on every front. Our room was spacious, quiet, and beautifully appointed, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a boutique retreat. The lobby bar served some of the best coffee and cocktails in the city — we became hooked on their matcha lattes! Mornings by the fireplace with coffee in hand were a highlight before heading out for another day of adventure.
And of course, no Harlem visit is complete without a meal at The Red Rooster, just a short walk away — unbeatable comfort food and craft cocktails in a vibrant atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a hotel that blends style, warmth, and true New York energy, The George Hotel is it. We can’t wait to return!
