Some of my family and I stayed here for a birthday celebration. It was such a fun time. The staff are most excellent and accommodating. The Wild Goose Pub is located inside the hotel and it was awesome. We had the best server named Gabby! We put 39 candles into one slice of cheesecake and it was a riot! The front desk staff provided us with anything we needed. We used the hot tub and pool and it was relaxing after the kids left the area. The beds were not the most comfortable unfortunately. The pillows made me wake up with a sore neck. We heard a dog barking from another room in the hotel all morning, that was dreadful.

I spent a little more than other airport hotels in the area and booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn Syracuse because they advertised having hot tub. Turns out the hot tub was out of order so I couldn’t use it. Then when I entered my room, room 237, I was overwhelmed by a loud vibration shaking my whole room coming from the floor beneath it. It sounded like the was a diesel engine idling in the floor. I went down to the front desk and told the gentleman working the front desk about the vibration/sound and asked if I could have my room switched. He said there’s no other rooms available and said he could send maintenance to check it out. The maintenance man showed up at my room 15 minutes later and agreed with me that the sound/vibration was excessive but also said that it’s the ventilation from the kitchen in the restaurant below my room. Apparently this is a common complaint from guests in my room and the other rooms above the restaurant. I was told it should stop around 10pm when the kitchen closes. I was not offered a different room, nor was I offered any kind of compensation for this room that I was unable to relax in until after 10pm that I paid full price for. This was not a discounted room. Needless to say this experience has tainted my view of Hilton hotels that I previously held in high esteem.

The front desk staff were kind. They anticipated my needs when I had food delivered and were quick to offer me utensils. The room was clean and quiet, the bed comfortable, and I felt safe during my stay. This hotel is conveniently close to the airport, and worked well in a pinch.

I’ve stayed here several times because of its convenient location and fitting in my work-travel assigned budget. Every time it is just ok. There is almost always some sort of very annoying inconvenience that happens on behalf of the hotel while I’m there, which could be coincidence, but at this point is starting to feel like a pattern. I am never one of those guests who expects a red carpet to be rolled out for me at every stay just because I am a Diamond member. I know many people these days have diamond status solely through their credit cards, and I’m sure this HGI in particular sees a lot of business travelers. However, as someone who stays a considerable number of days each year at Hiltons to *actually* qualify for Diamond status, I have stayed at many hotels and experienced varying levels of service, and I do expect at minimum a baseline level of hospitality. The rooms are clean but a bit dated, as are many HGIs (the brand really needs to do a focused renovation of these properties). The pillows for my past stay were ridiculously small. I find the hotel staff generally abrasive and not meeting standards of hospitality. There are exceptions, and I’ve had decent experiences there, but overall is only middle-of-the-road for a HGI. I will likely be switching to a different Syracuse Hilton property in the future.
