I booked here for a visit to Syracuse University. This hotel is pretty nice and affordable. I had no issues with anything outside of the ice machine closest to my room not working and the sharing of the digital key. I would stay here again

We (Wife and I, 2 kids) stayed over the weekend for a bodybuilding competition. We checked in Thursday night and left Sunday Morning. When we checked in I walked into the room and immediately noticed black tape holding the carpet down where it transitions to tile. The carpet also looked chopped and pulled away from the tile and walls (Photos). We also noticed the adjoined room door handle was broken off and a dummy handle at that(Photo). My wife used the bathroom and she called me in there saying water was dripping and the toilet didn't flush(Photo). The water was dripping off of a pan that was directly above the toilet, assuming it was access for the upstairs toilet drain, this did not make us too happy. We had already unpacked for four people and as some may know, there was a lot of food and prep space involved for these types of competitors. Being settled in, moving was the last thing we wanted especially at 10pm, so I went downstairs and said we aren't changing rooms, but please send a plumber up tomorrow. The next day, a maintenance manager arrived and when he touched the cover, water poured out and all over the floor and toilet. He said the leak was from the shower drain, but it was actively dripping so he didn't give us the choice and said we needed to move. This was 1 hour before show check ins so you can imagine the chaos for my wife. The room they placed us in was disgusting and the bathroom light was 3 different hues, so we moved again (3rd times a charm?). We entered and unpacked, the room was almost in the same shape, with the biggest problem being that the toilet didn't flush but we had no other option. While unpacking my daughter noticed something in the curtain. It was a giant roach, which LUCKILY was already found, squished and left for the next person. We were very unhappy with our experience and would not ever stay again. We are still waiting to get ahold of a manager as they keep saying "call back tomorrow." Overall it looks like they dumped a ton of money in the lobby, bar area and just did a terrible flip job on all of the rooms. Only 2 of the 5-6 people we saw were helpful. The others seemed bothered to field any complaints. If you can avoid it, you should.

REALLY liked this hotel. You really can't go wrong with ES we stay when we can. You pay a bit of a premium but that's ok. Its worth it. The comfort, safety, space of a suite was really nice. Only thing was they charged $100 per night for incidentals which I thought was a little expensive. But they were credited back immediately, which was good. I would definitely stay here again.
I have stayed at this location many time while in Syracuse. The staff always seem to care and go about and beyond for the guest. I have need to modify my stay a couple of times and the management staff has always done everything possible to accommodate me. Breakfast buffet if that's your thing or you can get a made to order omelet which they are fantastic!

Review of Embassy Suites East Syracuse – October 10–12, 2025
I’ve stayed at many Hilton properties over the years as a loyal Hilton Honors member, and unfortunately, this was one of my most disappointing stays.
When I checked in on Friday, October 10th, everything started off great. The front desk attendant was friendly, professional, and welcoming. He even invited my family to enjoy the happy hour area after my mother’s surprise party on Saturday, since she hadn’t seen her relatives in a long time. The happy hour that evening was wonderful—great drinks, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere.
However, things took a turn for the worse on Saturday morning. When I went to take a shower, the bathroom light was flickering nonstop like a strobe light in a horror movie. If anyone had photosensitive epilepsy, it could have easily triggered a seizure. I mentioned it to the housekeeper, who laughed and said she already knew about it but would let the front desk know. That response was extremely unprofessional.
Breakfast that morning was decent, though I found it strange that bacon was being rationed—something I’ve never experienced at any Embassy Suites before.
Later that evening, my family gathered in the happy hour area again to relax, talk, and play Uno. We were calm, respectful, and mindful of our noise level. Despite that, the on-duty sheriff who was working security repeatedly circled our group and made us feel uncomfortable. He told us we were being “a little loud,” though no one around us seemed disturbed. Around midnight, he returned to say we had one more hour before we needed to go to our rooms, and at 1 a.m., he came back again to tell us to leave.
This treatment felt discriminatory and completely out of line. My family and I had eight rooms booked for the weekend, and this experience left a terrible impression—especially for relatives visiting Syracuse for the first time.
I’ve always chosen Hilton for its reputation for comfort, inclusivity, and excellent service, but this experience was deeply disappointing. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue, because no guest should feel unwelcome or targeted while simply enjoying their stay.
Based on this experience, I sadly cannot recommend this location to others.
