This hotel is very conveniently located with a short walk to the capital and to the education building. I ate at a few of tge restaurants within walking distance as well. I liked kefi's, spinning gyro, city beer hall and the hotel restaurant as well. The staff here are not the best though. The front desk was pretty incompetent. I had an issue with the heat in my room and when I asked about it I was met with a pretty ridiculous response. The girl shared that the heat issue was building wide, which is understandable but after some elaborate back and forth she said "So what im hearing is you would like your room to be warmer?" I had to just smile and say yes and walk away. I never really met anyone with great interpersonal skills the whole three days. The room was basic but with the heat and tge blood on the bed spread and the flooding of the bathroom floor every time you turn the shower on. I wasn't that happy with the stay. This was a business trip so it's OK for that kind of trip or maybe a one night stay if you need a cheap room.

I wish I had read the more recent reviews before booking. I assumed that being a Hilton property, it would meet a certain standard—but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The hotel feels like it hasn’t been updated in at least 15 years and was one of the dirtiest properties I’ve stayed in. The elevators were scratched and grimy, with dust and buildup in the corners. In my room, the air vents were covered in thick dust, and the floor corners were filthy. Even the parking garage was littered with garbage and debris throughout. I had booked for three nights but ended up checking out after just one.

Stayed for business. Breakfast is not included. Breakfast buffet is $23+tax+tip. Not budget friendly. There is a fresh omelette bar, and most of the food items were good. Breakfast staff were extremely pleasant.
Room is comfortable, some of the furnishings are dinged, but bed is so comfy and amazing! Toiletries provided smell so nice. Housekeeping is done daily, which is also very good.
I have an issue with the lack of common areas for guests. The area that looks like a seating area is actually a restaurant, the whole lobby at night is a restaurant. The rude waitress gruffly said as I put a takeout bag on a table to sit “you’re not eating that here” loudly announcing there is no where to sit without needing to buy something from the hotel. Absolutely embarrassing. We were suggested to eat our take out by the pool area, which has tables and chairs—but a sign on the door saying no food or drink.
I would say this hotel is a mixed bag, some amenities make up for others. That said, I would not stay here unless I absolutely had to.
This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Stayed here for two nights for an event at the Albany Center. Let's start with the pros, the reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1.
- The room was spacious, the bedding fine, the blackout curtains were dark
- Location was nearby to where I needed to be
Now, what was wrong?
- Friday night a rodent of some kind was scurrying around the floor. Never did see where it went. Perhaps IN the bed because the underside of the mattress was all torn up.
- My door lock would flash green and not open most of the time, usually took 4-5 efforts.
- The doors that connect rooms were paper thin. I could hear every word the people in the next room were saying.
- Fridge was very noisy, at least it somewhat drowned out the neighbors?
- Restaurant closed early, room service wasn't available, and if you called the number provided to do pickup instead, you got an error tone.
- Room had a bathtub, but the mechanism to switch from shower->bath was broken.
- I am not a tall person and the shower head was still at eye height for me
- Cracked paint/plaster, pealing wallpaper, overall just disrepair.
- Concierge breakfast on the 13th floor was gone unreasonably .early. 9:45 on a Sunday morning and it was closed/dark/locked
- On and off throughout Friday afternoon the fire alarm light would flash for 30 seconds then stop for a minute, then start again. No actual alarm, just strobes.
Do yourself a favor and find another hotel in Albany.

Do NOT Recommend to Any NY Bar Takers!
I stayed at the Hilton Albany in July 2025 for two nights (for over $1000) while taking the New York Bar Exam, and it was one of the most stressful and disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
Before my arrival, I noted through Booking.com that I am allergic to dust and feathers, but there was no acknowledgement or preparation made for this. Upon entering my room, I was shocked... the space was extremely dusty, the ceiling paint peeling off (see pictures), and there were dead insects on the window ledge. Within minutes, the manager, Kyle, came to inspect the room. After seeing the state of it, he admitted that the hotel was fully booked due to the Bar Exam and that it was unlikely he could find an alternative room. He left to check but returned saying no rooms or cleaners were available. He kindly offered to clean the room himself, but I declined, as this was clearly not a sustainable solution.
The next morning, which was my first day of the Bar Exam, I tried to make tea before leaving, only to find an insect in my cup and another inside the coffee machine. The machine itself was broken, and while trying to pour hot water, I burned my hand. You can imagine how “fun” it was to handwrite six hours of the exam with a burn.
After the exam, I spoke with another manager, Owen Simms. He explained that half the hotel was under renovation, which might explain the poor condition of my room. He offered me a free meal at the restaurant, but I declined, as I no longer trusted the cleanliness. Owen also told me that if I hadn’t booked through Booking.com, he would have processed a refund immediately, and suggested I raise a claim through them, which I did. However, Hilton never responded to Booking.com’s requests to confirm the refund. Despite multiple follow-ups with both Hilton and Booking.com, I never received a response and eventually gave up.
Overall, this was an extremely unpleasant experience, especially given the importance of the occasion! The hotel was unclean, poorly managed, and unresponsive even after repeated attempts to resolve the issue. I would not recommend this property to anyone! Especially not to those sitting the NY Bar Exam who need a clean, quiet, and stress-free environment.
Forgot to say that towels were extremely dirty - see pictures!
