We were robbed — the worst experience of our lives!
During our stay, someone broke into our room while we were sleeping and stole our belongings. A total nightmare!
We woke up to a person leaving our room while robbing us. It was a terrifying and desperate moment.
We immediately called the front desk, filed a police report, and the police came to our room at 3 a.m.
Even so, the hotel took no action after the incident.
We spoke with four different managers and several other employees — no one had any information, each passed the responsibility to someone else, and everyone showed complete negligence and lack of professionalism.
After the robbery, they moved us to a worse room than the one we had booked, and for two days, no one cleaned the room, replaced towels, or offered any assistance.
In addition, we witnessed other guests reporting thefts of backpacks, suitcases, and belongings disappearing from their rooms while they were away. A recurring and extremely serious situation.
We demand a refund of the 3,000 dollars that were stolen from us, but the hotel never returned anything.
We leave this warning: the hotel is completely unsafe and unprepared to deal with thefts or emergencies.
TLDR: I will never be back and will tell everyone I know to avoid at all costs. If you want unhelpful/self-involved staff, constantly annoying and unescapable alarms, a mediocre location with mediocre food and gross towels/flooded showers, this is the place for you.
Alarms went off at 8pm on Sunday for maybe an hour+ for “testing purposes.” Annoying, loud, and incessant. Started right back up again at 10am on Tuesday - probably just to get people up and checked out although they already charge a late checkout fee of $50. Truly 0 reason for these alarms and no notice or apology given. Legitimately just 2 hours of annoyance and disrupted work and sleep for nothing.
You would think that with their poor/far location, outdated infrastructure, and bad service, the hotel would at least modulate their prices… instead they triple their prices on absolutely everything. A burger and fries was $25, energy drink $9. I’m happy to pay these prices in Vegas when it is worth it - and this is NOT WORTH IT. You don’t even know the cost until you get to the register. Room prices don’t make up for the money and time you’ll spend getting from point A to point B on Ubers/Ride Share and paying for the only food/drink they have available. A $6 sandwich at Starbucks is at least $9, don’t get me started on the only other available breakfast option.
Multiple rewards kiosks and machines were just flat out broken. The extra towels they provided were thin, old, and stained, and we had to use the extra just to soak up all of the water that fell out of the shower. Forget feeling comfortable using the toilet or streaming any of your shows without live tv ads or a +$30 movie charge.
With all that being said - if the people were kind and helpful I’d give a good service review, but they are probably some of the most unhelpful staff I have ever experienced. I lost a bag at their facility and a man with an accent and name starting with a “B” flat out refused to make a “secondary” ticket simply due to the fact another member of my party had reported the incident on my behalf PURELY because they didn’t want “two tickets open.” Also refused to look at any of their camera footage, though it would probably take all of ten minutes because I didn’t lie and say I knew of a crime that took place, even though it could have very well been stolen. My bag had a limited edition switch dock, switch controller, and more inside of it. If they had taken five more minutes to help me, I’d have given this some leeway, but it’s obvious the attitude here isn’t a one off - because there IS MORE.
On TOP of that, staff did nothing to help us jump start a car stuck in THEIR garage. No tools, no resources, or anything to help the customers they supposedly want to stay at their vicinity. Thankfully we had each other, but if any of us had been alone and placed our trust in the hotel and staff to care for us we would have been stranded. And, at about 1am at night, multiple different men continued to drunkenly sit down and approach me, although I would walk away. no security was in sight.
There is absolutely no way to call the front desk, it isn’t even a button on the phone. Check in is a pain (took 20min with kiosk), and you have to spend at least 5 minutes with a AI bot to get to anyone (go ahead and call their # to see), and even then you get transferred. This team just doesn’t want to help at all. Only proactive outreach was about time shares. Go figure. Legitimately just brushing/pushing off any work they could whenever they could.
Only kind conversation came from one person at the burger register, the maids, and the girls serving the drinks, but they were exceptions. Again, unhelpful and just refused to give good service.
I’m not sure how ensuring their personal convenience aids in serving customers. Avoid at all costs.

My wife and l stayed at the Rio Hotel in Sept. We were deciding on a couple of hotels to stay at and the reason we chose the Rio was that they were offering a 35% discount on rooms. We had watched some YouTube videos and saw that the hotel had some remodeling done so we hoped for the best. We had an evening flight so we didn't check in at the front desk, we downloaded the app and got a digital room key. The room was good sized with a couch and coffee table and on the other side of the room was the bed. The rooms are considered suites, but it's a small suite. We ate at the "food court" in the hotel a couple of times especially late night that the chicken tender place was open late. We did go up to the voodoo bar on Saturday night and danced and took some amazing pictures. We saw The Empire Strips Back burlesque show, which compared to Zombie Burlesque was kind of meh. And we ate at the Luckley restaurant and had the greatest meal we had our entire time in Vegas.
During our stay l developed some sort of skin rash on my back that developed a day or so after we arrived didn't start to subside until about a week after we got back home, but didn't completely go away for about a month. I'm not sure if it was something in the bed on the couch or in the water but l have never had anything like this before.
We had a couple of conversations with housekeeping when she came to clean and one day she wiped her mouth on a face towel and l watched her fold that towel on the rack above the toilet in the bathroom. I saw which towel it was so obviously we didn't use it. And I'm not saying what happened to me was because of that but I'm wondering if it's possible that she may have transferred something from somewhere else to our room and it effected my skin on my back. I sent multiple emails hoping to get some kind of resolution as opposed to writing a review, but l never received any response. I get emails with different promotions the Rio is offering but no response regarding my situation.
There are a lot of good things about staying at the Rio. However if you have an issue, in my opinion, they are not good at responding trying to resolve the issue or make the customer is satisfied.

Honestly, I don't even know where to start. This was the worst hotel. I have stayed in in a long time. I asked for early check-in, and they were not only not able to get my room ready, but my room was ready an hour after the normal check-in time. That was common for not only me, but a bunch of my coworkers and clients that were attending the conference as well. One client reported that they showed up at 10 PM the day they were supposed to check in, and their room was still not ready. The check-in line is very long, with not very many people working or showing any urgency at all. They are unable to help you with room extensions, and as I extended my room for an extra few days, I had to come back downstairs and re-check in in order to keep my room. They do not do wake up calls. They do not do room service past 12 PM. They do not allow late checkout, and if they do allow it, it is an extra fee. They have smoke alarms in the room that pick up all types of smoke and other things. A friend of mine was blow drying her hair, and then got a bill for $350 for smoking in the room, when she was just blow drying her hair. The shower had terrible water pressure, and did not have hot water. My friends room had the hot water and cold water reversed. They were working on construction in the room next to me until 2 AM. Housekeeping tried to come in at 8 AM 4 PM or whenever they felt like it, and they never knocked. They just came in. Every time I tried to get an answer from someone at the front desk or any staff on site they were rude. blew me off or ignored me. The security is super aggressive and unhelpful. The food was gross. No one was helpful. Everything cost too much. And they look for every reason to charge you when your experience is a bad experience. The fact that I had to wait for a room past regular check in time had to come back downstairs to recheck in for my extension, and then could not request late check out, are the least of my concerns with everything else that went wrong. On top of all of that, being there for work, you would expect that Wi-Fi at least semi works. We all had to use our hotspot because the Wi-Fi was so bad not only in the conference center, but in our rooms as well. Shops and restaurants alike in the hotel are not open regular hours or sometimes not open at all. Since the hotel is not on the strip, you have to either DoorDash Uber eats or get an Uber into the strip so that you can find something to eat. I could go on and on, but I hope that this is enough to convince you to spend money elsewhere – literally anywhere else. I do not recommend this hotel, I do not recommend that you send anyone that you know or care about here. It was terrible and I have had way better experiences at many other hotels in Las Vegas. It is unfortunate that I had to attend this hotel for a work conference, even more unfortunate that my coworkers and clients alike all had similar experiences. I definitely will not be back and I recommend you spend your money elsewhere.
Critical Security Failure
Our recent stay at the Rio Hotel & Casino presented a complex and ultimately concerning dichotomy. While the location is ok (off the strip) and physical accommodations met expectations, a serious security failure overshadows all positive aspects of the visit.
On the positive side, the guest rooms offered generous sizing that was immediately appreciated, providing ample space and comfort superior to many standard Las Vegas offerings. The in-room amenities were satisfactory, ensuring a comfortable setting for rest when not experiencing the property or the city.
However, the core takeaway from our stay involves a profound and disturbing lapse in guest safety.
We experienced a direct attempted intrusion into our room using a door jam to keep our door from closing after they opened it, assuming from some sort of master key.
The incident occurred late at night when a person successfully breached the exterior door. Fortunately, my spouse woke up, found the entryway light illuminated and the door open, and confronted the individual, who immediately fled the premises. The assailant left behind the door jam device at the scene.
Crucially, a second member of our traveling party, staying on the same floor, experienced an identical situation, waking up later to find their room door inexplicably ajar following a similar attempted entry.
We reported these security breaches to the front desk and hotel security. While staff were receptive to our statement, their overall attitude suggested that incidents involving unauthorized entry via door jam were a regrettably common occurrence rather than an isolated anomaly.
We are grateful that no personal property was taken in either incident, but the violation of privacy and the very real threat to personal safety are unacceptable.
In summary, while the Rio offers comfortable, spacious rooms, the documented security failures and the concerning manner in which management acknowledged their frequency make this hotel un-recommendable until comprehensive and visible security measures are implemented to ensure guest safety.
