A lot of the hotel is very nice. The first thing I noticed was the amazing smell, beautiful Christmas decorations, and how clean the main areas were. Unfortunately, the rooms didn’t match that standard. My room had a few bugs, and the pool was very unpleasant — there was vomit in the water and along the sides, which was disgusting. That said, the pool itself is actually really nice, and the slide was super fast and fun. If it weren’t for the bugs, the vomit, and the overall gross vibe in certain areas, this place would easily be a 4-star stay.

So theoretically this is one of, if not the nicest chain hotel in sydney area (Yes I know it's in memberou). My experience stems off the fact that despite being new with large rooms and connected to a conference centre, they just can't figure out how to capitalise on that. First the building - there are certain rooms on the top floor that you just don't get hot water in the shower. But you do have to run AC on full blast even in the winter to get the rooms in the top 2 floors to a comfortable temperature. And the windows aren't sealed super great so you will get a lot of rattling on windy days. Now the amenities - it would be a hard challenge to find a worse continental breakfast. Full stop - it is absurdly awful. And it's a shame - you can peak in the kitchen and see such a beautiful array of appliances... Spoiled! The location unfortunately only has Kiju's with no room service and that fully closes at 9pm. or if you can brave a short walk, you can make it to the bowling lanes, but they're frequently out of menu items and it's also a bit of a strange atmosphere. Which means you have to drive somewhere... Yes drive because there's no uber and even the very best taxi cars in Sydney are biohazardous and unrealiable, especially in the evenings. It's a fantastic location for kids pool parties tho, and junior hockey teams, because kids love terrible breakfasts and a pool in their hotel. For that purpose it's great - for business travel, avoid.

Stayed at the Hampton from late November to early December 2025 to attend a solemn family event. Researched flights to Sydney & called the Hampton to inquire about rates & availability. Mark Rose was on reception desk duty and took the call. He answered my questions patiently and provided valuable insights regarding a Hampton stay. His reassuring tone and welcoming manner were instrumental in my choice to book at the Hampton. Lodgings secured, booked flights and the journey was a go. Flights were on time and uneventful. Cabbed to the Hampton and was impressed with the palatial nighttime presence of the hotel. Mark Bates was on duty and checked me in. Both Marks are personable and professional. The room was huge, one of the nicest rooms I've had the privilege to be in. Slept like a King in the King-sized bed and woke up feeling great and ready for the day. Went down to the lobby and got in line for the breakfast. Incredible quantity and quality of selections. The coffee was much appreciated. Lingered over eggs and ham, and was the last person in the lobby. One suggestion would be to extend the breakfast opportunity to 11 or 12. Good convo with one of the breakfast staff about life after teaching, the history of the area and other items. Cape Bretoners are very friendly people! The locals on staff provide excellence & hearty welcomes. Explored the area on foot and discovered a drug store, Tim Horton's and a YMCA within walking distance. Cab fares are very reasonable & provide easy access within the city. Made a visit to the family gathering and everyone was surprised to see me, as my trip crossed several provinces. We were following the journey of my youngest sister who was making a similar trek to Sydney, but had been delayed by aircraft de-icing and subsequent missed connections. She showed resilience & overcame many obstacles to complete a cross-country odyssey. Thankfully she caught the late-night flight to Sydney and landed safely. 🛬 Attended another family event the next day where my sister gave a much-appreciated reading. She's a College English Professor and will no doubt comment on the content, spelling and grammar of this review! Hah! We linked up later in the day & toasted to absent family and friends & give thanks for the present. Managed to enjoy some of the amenities of the hotel. Did some laps in the pool, appreciated the weights in the health facility & picked up some snacks in the dispensary beside the main desk. Traversed the second-floor skyward to Kiju's, an upscale restaurant which gives a discount for Hampton clients. Prices were high for small portions, but quality was excellent. Staying open to 10 or 11 would improve the food possibilities at the hotel. All in all a great visit. Thanks to Mark Rose & Mark Bates & all staff at the Hampton for making my journey possible, and for the professionalism & courtesy extended during my stay. Hope to repeat and will give highest recommendations.
