I booked a king room but was given a two queen bed room without any prior notice from the concierge. While that was disappointing, it wasn’t my biggest concern. During breakfast, I witnessed a rat running around the dining area, clearly looking for food. This is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable, especially in a space where guests are eating. What was even more alarming was that hotel staff walked by without reacting at all, as if this was a normal occurrence. This raises serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below expectations. Do not recommend this place at all.

We had an alright stay here, apart from the fact that we woke up in the morning to bed bugs crawling next to my husband! This has never happened to me before. At first we were impressed by the discount we got for a last minute stay, the room seemed nice and the location was great. Unfortunately waking up to bed bugs at 6am completely ruined the night. My partner called the front desk and spoke to them, they advised us to put the bug in a cup and that they had plastic bags for our things if needed. When we stripped the bed upon discovering the bugs, we found dirt and popcorn kernels under the sheets of the bed, so obviously the attention to cleanliness wasn’t great. I usually always check the beds at hotels but this time I was so tired I just assumed everything would be fine. My mistake. The staff didn’t initially seem to care much about the situation. I have to note that the hotel Manager came and spoke with me eventually when I was in the lobby and had offered a 75% discount for the night. She said we still had to pay for the pet fee ($75) and 25% of our stay. Honestly I felt that the stay should have been free, regardless of the pet. The steps we had to take to ensure the bugs didn’t spread to our home was costly enough. That said, the Hampton Inn in Halifax won’t be seeing my business again, and I will warn others to stay away too.

we visited halifax from Fredericton with family and friends, staying for two nights over three days. The hotel's location was perfect, but the housekeeping service was disappointing. Our request for housekeeping wasn't fulfilled, and we noticed pillows without protectors and pillows are smelly, The lotions and hand soap were placed too high for children to access.

BEDBUGS IN RIOM 932!!! The location is great. Room is fine. Everything ok but I woke up with itchy bites all over my body. There was a mattress cover on bed.. but after second night it had come off in the corners. Room service is not great so it was never properly put on again. And I thing bugs didn’t seriously manage to get out until second night.

We were visiting Halifax from Charlottetown and chose this hotel because of its downtown location, which truly is a 10/10. Unfortunately, the stay itself was disappointing. The rooms felt quite dated, and while they were generally clean, both the sheets and towels had visible stains and tears. Parking was also costly. Compared to nearby options, the hotel’s parking ended up being more expensive than parking elsewhere in the area. The biggest issue was the heating. Our first room had no working heat. After trying to adjust the thermostat for hours, it became clear it was only blowing cold air. We called reception, and someone came up and simply turned the unit off, stating there was no heat available, without offering a solution. Given that it’s winter in Canada, this was not acceptable. When we called reception again, their response felt rushed and irritated. We were told someone else was coming and the call was ended abruptly. Another staff member tested the heat in a different room, and we agreed to move. This required packing everything up and changing rooms in the middle of the night. While the heat worked in the second room, the bathroom heater did not, making showering and using the bathroom uncomfortably cold. At checkout, we mentioned the ongoing heating issue. One staff member apologized (the first apology we received), while another offered explanations related to renovations and wiring issues, but no apology. We did receive a discount after some discussion, but it started very low and felt more like negotiating than a sincere attempt to make things right. Breakfast was cold, though otherwise decent. Overall, despite the excellent location, we would recommend staying elsewhere based on how these issues were handled.
