Disappointed with Our Stay – Felt More Like a Motel Than a Hilton
We stayed at the Hilton Homewood Suites, Albuquerque Journal Center from October 15–18, 2025, and unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations.
The property felt more like a rundown motel than a hotel under the Hilton brand. The furniture in our room was falling apart, the shower was in poor condition, and the bedding had visible stains — which was extremely concerning from a cleanliness standpoint.
We requested maid service on day two, hoping for a refresh, but all they did was replace the towels. There was no coffee replenished, beds were left unmade, trash bins were not emptied, and toilet paper and Kleenex were not restocked. It felt like the bare minimum effort was made, which is not what we expect from a Hilton property. We had to disrupt our evening so the maid could service the room at 4:30PM.
We’re left wondering: Is Homewood Suites considered one of Hilton’s lower-end hotel brands? If so, that should be made clearer to guests before booking and definitely not worth $200+ a night.
We chose Hilton and don’t mind paying the higher prices, but we expect a certain standard of quality and service, and this stay fell far short.

I’ve stayed at several Homewood Suites over the years for business and pleasure. Never had a problem until this last weekend in Albuquerque on San Antonio Drive. Requested 3rd floor but we were put on first floor. The hallway in the hotel rugs was worn and coming apart at seams. Staff was unwilling to help out with problems or requests. The sofa couch was old, dirty and mattress totally worn out. When asked if they would replace the mattress staff said they could not because against policy. Television in bedroom did not work. Staff did care said could not replace because against policy. I paid $178.00 a night and I think staying at Motel 6 would have been better. Beware of anyone staying there. Don’t waste your money. Horrible service and facility.

The lobby and halls smell like wet dog. I thought it was a fluke but came back tonight and nope, even worse tonight.
The rooms are tolerable but so aged and haven't had a good cleaning in likely years. I appreciate that hotels are moving away from carpeting but that doesn't mean you can just not clean the tile floors.
There are what I thought were holes on the bathroom wall from the soap dispenser, but no those are just nasty stains.
I had hoped breakfast would turn things around but the 1/4" of water on the bottom of the egg pan and the cold smoked sausage just didn't do it.
Finally, the back door to the parking lot doesn't close unless you pull it closed so that's pretty safe

We stayed for an impromptu weekend in ABQ. Upon check-in, the front desk was handling multiple customer issues with great patience and kindness. Our plans ended up changing, and we were able to cancel our second night with a full refund, and the front desk staff handled that request promptly and were very nice, and we received the credit and final statement minutes after checking out. The lobby was decorated for the season, with games and coloring pages out for the kids. Cleaning staff was very friendly in passing, and rooms were nice and clean.

The nicest staff I have ever had at a hotel! Maria at the front desk knows so much about Albuquerque, and gave me a list of trails to try and is a joy to talk to! The cleaning staff so helpful and very nice. Thank you for a great stay!
