I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Fort Lee (Reservation: R5974830004), and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing from the first night. When I checked in late at night, I found the pillows and bed sheets dirty with what looked like makeup stains — clearly showing that the bedding had not been changed properly. I tried calling housekeeping several times with no answer. The front desk told me he was the only one available and that housekeeping had already left, and he could only give me clean pillow covers if I came down to pick them up myself. I ended up leaving the hotel that night and staying with a friend because the room was not in a clean or usable condition. Later during my stay, on November 17, the water in the hotel was completely shut off from 12 PM to 3 PM. We were only informed about this issue around 11:30 AM, which gave almost no time to prepare. This was extremely inconvenient and unacceptable for a hotel in this category. Additionally, the towels in the bathroom were another issue. Even after housekeeping “changed” them, the towels still had stains and visible marks on more than one occasion. I had to request new towels multiple times, and it felt like the hotel either has insufficient laundry capacity or simply needs to replace its towel stock entirely. Overall, this hotel does not meet the standards expected from a Hilton-branded property. Cleanliness, housekeeping availability, and basic maintenance were all below expectations. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and improves the quality and hygiene standards.

It is diabolically insane, to allow contractors to rip apart rooms that are DIRECTLY NEXT TO GUEST ROOMS AT 730 AM!!! Yes there are renovations. Yes there is a sign. But to be awakened at 730 AM in a room you paid 200 dollars for by men stripping walls and paint below you is completely insane and unreasonable. I have no idea how this was allowed to happen to me/us at what otherwise appears to be a decent hotel. I will say, the location of this hotel is TERRIBLE. You literally could not walk anywhere from this location if you tried. And this is New York, people expect to be able to walk. Only stay here if you are an exterminator here for the convention. I did appreciate the staff was very nice when I let them know about the insane noise levels- it seems like I was far from the first guest to come to them with this problem (which further begs the question HOW). When your third floor literally looks like a war zone with no walls in the hall. Maybe don’t rent out the fourth floor room DIRECTLY ABOVE IT. I still can’t believe they were actually stupid enough to put us in that room, or to allow contractors to work INSIDE OF YOUR HOTEL BEFORE 8 AM. It’s really just basic logic and decency along with a place to stay that I expected

The hotel itself was pretty good. The location left a lot to be desired. NOTHING in walking distance except another hotel. Nice ambiance in the lobby area. The desk staff were very kind and attentive. As a matter of fact, while I was checking in, a lady fell down the stairs and everyone at the counter went over to offer assistance. The room was very quaint. The only thing missing was a microwave. Another reviewer commented on the noise. I concur 100%. The doors slam ridiculously loud. Other people going in and out of their rooms woke me up several times. Another con was the prices in the cafe Milano. $20 for a burger and everything was ala carte. Perhaps that’s standard for New York but I found that to be quite expensive. Overall my stay was pleasant.

I had to cancel my reservation due to a serious medical emergency. I cancelled more than two months in advance, and even contacted the hotel and Booking.com multiple times, not a single response. Despite never staying at the hotel, they still charged me over $2,000. I was in hospital at the time, fighting for my health, and my family was going through emotional distress. And what did they do? Nothing. No refund. No empathy. Not even an explanation. Seven months later, I still haven’t received a single human reply. But their system was quick to send me an automated email asking, “How was your stay?” as if I had actually been there. I’m deeply disappointed and shocked that a brand like Hilton would treat people this way. This is not hospitality. This is exploitation. Avoid this hotel if you value human decency.

DO NOT BOOK IF YOU ARE A LIGHT SLEEPER. This hotel has no soundproofing. I gave it two tries, as the location is convenient to the George Washington Bridge, and I had to be in the City very early on two separate occasions. It seems that the majority of the rooms face some point of the busy highway. I travel with a fan for white noise, and even that did not help. The second stay was slightly better after requesting the quietest room available, but it still had very loud traffic noise. They are apparently doing construction at the hotel. I hope it is to put in soundproof windows. If noise does not bother you, this hotel is fine.
