Definitely need to upgrade their 1988 ac units. The heat would not come on in a room and same thing happened a year ago when here. It’s too cold not to have heat fixed. They make too much money to have these old thermostats. There’s a lack of communication from front desk staff also. They should let you know upfront digital keys don’t work on hotel main doors. The security was way better than the front desk. He was friendly and awesome. For me to come back to this hotel I’d have to be desperate. One positive is their hot water….gets hot quick and lasts a long time. Breakfast in mornings is a positive. Pet friendly Location is a positive for nearby restaurants. There is homeless but many police nearby for you to feel secure. They do have room service 5-9. Also housekeeping stocked well on towels. If they upgraded their ac units then I would give 4 stars. Just tried to have breakfast at 9:30. No meat. No grits. I guess it’s screw anyone after 9ish.

The staff at this hotel are all extremely friendly. Breakfast had a good selection and the staff were quick to restock items and clear tables.
The location is great, within walking distance of a bunch of restaurants.
The room itself could use some work. There was a large gap under the front door, so hallways sounds were very audible. There was also a bit of mold above the shower head and the tub faucet dripped a fair bit. The hvac units in the room were also pretty loud when they kicked on.

Penny, front desk, provided exceptional check in service and information. Chef Braxton, the omelettes and grits hit the spot. Thank you for the awesome meals. And Diorah, thank you for the excellent service at breakfast. Overall, great hotel. Will recommend to colleagues.

I loved this hotel! Super clean. Staff was so friendly! I enjoyed the breakfast very much! I also loved how organized it was. They had a list of who was in the room and checked off who came. I think it was a great idea to keep everything in order! I do feel bad that my kids left a big mess after eating. I asked the staff where they kept the broom so I can clean it up, they insisted it was okay and they would take care of it which I appreciate them not making me feel bad for it. The hotel room was so spacious and beautiful. We got 2 beds with the living room. The staff seemed like they enjoyed working there which was refreshing!

The rooms are a bit dated, but the space of my room was enormous for just myself.
And with that said, the staff was probably the friendliest hotel staff I have ever encountered from my numerous years of traveling, so kudos to them.
And the kitchen served some of the best tasting sweet potato fries I have ever eaten, so kudos to them as well.
This is definitely my go to hotel when staying in Winston Salem
