This hotel was selected by our Sports Club. I'm not sure I would have stayed here otherwise based on other's reviews. But, here we are.
Check in was good. The front desk clerk was very welcoming. Started out OK. I wish I had received my warm cookie as advertised, though. I needed it after my long drive from home.
Upon entering the room, it appeared clean with plenty of room for my daughter and me. As I was unpacking in anticipation of the long, exhausting weekend, I realized the refrigerator was not working. This is an essential amenity for an extended sports- centered weekend. I attempted to call down to the front desk, but the phone was out of order. As I was getting ready to head downstairs, I realized the toilet kept refilling. Every. Two. Minutes. 3 strikes in less than 5 minutes of arriving. So I walked my travel-weary butt down to the front desk to let them know all of this. The maintenance crew was already there, chatting with the desk clerk. After explaining the issues, one of the gentlemen said he'd be right up to try fixing the fridge and toilet. The phone, I was told, can't be fixed because they're having issue with the phone company and need new jacks.
So I head back up to my room to wait patiently. He arrived about 30 min later to find the fridge was unplugged. Easy fix, but the temperature knob was missing. He said they were all turned to the coldest setting and the knobs removed. This is important for later, remember this. For the toilet, he replaced the flange, but that did not fix the problem. Still refilling every 2 minutes. I should have tequested to move rooms, but I had already unpacked for the weekend. That was a big mistake. Now, not only do I hear the toilet constantly running ALL NIGHT,, but I can hear the shower and toilet of my neighbor. Thin walls, apparently.
The next morning, I get up to shower. The water was luke warm, at most. My daughter said her shower was hot the night before, so maybe I didn't turn it all the way up. But the 2nd morning, I got up to shower and the water was ice cold. Not even tepid....cold. I was checking out that morning, and as irritated as I was about the whole stay, I just wanted to get out of there. As I was emptying the fridge, I found our sodawater cans were frozen and near exploding because the fridge was so cold. Several dollars in sodawater had to be thrown away because I was not able to control the fridge temp. Our ice packs hadn't even thawed!
Upon checking out, I explained my experience to the front desk. Her reply was "I will let the manager know." So I paid $350 for a constantly running, leaky toilet, a cold shower, and ruined food.
So, learn from my lesson and find somewhere else to stay!
I was very disappointed with my stay at the DoubleTree in Rocky Mount, NC. While the staff was polite on the surface, they were extremely unhelpful and gave off the impression that they simply didn’t care.
The room itself was in poor condition. All of the metal furniture pieces were covered in rust, and the room had an unpleasant smell from the moment we walked in. To make things worse, the shower faucet was broken and leaked constantly throughout our stay. The pictures of the hotel online are either fake or from YEARS ago.
We also tried the hotel restaurant, which was another letdown. I ordered a steak that was badly overcooked and lacked any real flavor. Definitely not worth the price.
The breakfast buffet was $12 and poorly managed. Items were never refilled. On the second morning, the juice and water were still empty from the day before. When we asked about it, we were told they would “get to it later,” which never happened.
During our 4-night stay, we were also told that room service was not offered at all, which was surprising for a hotel of this brand.
Overall, this property does not live up to the DoubleTree name. Between the room condition, lack of service, and poor dining experience, I would not stay here again.
When the front desk person with a straight face says that property is still operating under covid restrictions in 2025 everything else becomes laughable. This is NOT the place to stay in rocky mount NC. There were actual roaches in my room and in the "restaurant " which was completely an understaffed mess. The food was sub par for a Hinton property and the staff was at best disinterested in providing a positive customer experience. The room smelled of mildew or mold. There were wet spots on the floor from some obvious water leak and the roaches were everywhere. I practically live in hotels for my job and can honestly say....
Do yourself a favor and avoid this horrible hotel at all costs. Even if it costs you extra. They literally gave up years ago and it is no longer a quality double tree. It's an over priced red roof inn. You have been warned.
Decent location right off the highway. Rooms were a little dated but tv was nice and the shower had great water pressure. lobby was ok w plenty of space to sit. The biggest downer was the attached restaurant. Went in for the breakfast buffet and it was dreadful. The hostess went into the back and didn't reappear till it was time for the check. The food looked old. There was nothing to drink! No water, juices, or coffee…never seen that before. 3 stars is probably being generous. I Expect more from Doubletrees.

Booked six rooms for four nights for production crew due to event at RockyMount Event Center on 12/19. Arrival on 12/17. No hot chocolate chip cookies upon check-in, dirty bathroom with standing water in the bathtub and musty-smelling room, bedsheets smelled like dog even though supposedly clean, no hot water for hours after informing the front desk, and no housekeeping after 2pm (we were told it was because it’s still Covid-when it’s almost 2026?) even though our work day was from 3pm to 1am. Gym was a joke with equipment laying on the floor waiting to be assembled with caution tape around it. One coffee maker for a full hotel that was constantly empty and when informed, would take the front desk 15 minutes to go over and start a new one. What happened to the level of service that’s expected with the DoubleTree name? It’s as though Hilton forgot about this property years ago.
