Had a great stay. Actually spent most of the evening playing pool and talking to Samantha when she had a chance between customers. The room was simple, but very nice, the bed slept well. I'll definitely be back.

I travel quite a bit and typically stay at Hilton properties, though lately many of the Hampton Inns and other Hilton properties have started to feel tired and dated. This was my first time trying a Tru, and right from the moment I walked in, it was clear this was a very different experience.
Outside, there’s a cozy fire pit that keeps the smokers warm 😂 and gives the entrance a welcoming touch. Inside, the lobby feels fresh, modern, and warm. There are plenty of workstations for business travelers, a solid snack selection, and free hot coffee, tea, and filtered water so you’re not stuck buying bottled water. The lobby also has a pool table and a wide range of magazines (not just the usual “things to do in the area”), which makes it easy to unwind after a long day.
The rooms are bright, cheerful, and thoughtfully designed, with smart storage options. The bed was very comfortable, and the workspace had plenty of outlets. One small note: it’s a new property, so they still only have USB-A ports.
Breakfast was perfectly decent and definitely helps keep costs down. There was also a good selection of fresh fruit you could grab for the road.
Overall, Tru feels like a refreshing update compared to many older Hilton brands. If Hilton continues modernizing the rest of their portfolio, it’ll make staying loyal to them an easier choice—because I was genuinely starting to consider switching to Marriott.

This hotel is great for hikers, bikers and adventure enthusiasts who wish to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway. The access point to MP 393 from tunnel road is just a few minutes away. We have stayed here overnight on 2 occasions and have found the rooms, bathrooms absolutely clean. The breakfast is good, too. It is a dog-friendly hotel, they do charge a separate pet fee. A beautiful hill across the tunnel road makes the view from rooms on the front side of the hotel very pleasant . The staff is very courteous, I met Emily and another receptionist (sorry, I forgot her name) on the evening of 10/20 who were both very helpful and made lots of efforts to help us check-in with all the internet related issues following the AWS outage.

Nice clean hotel and good staff but rooms are very small and cramped. Good for 1 person traveling but that's about it and from what I understand all the rooms are the same size

I was greeted by a rude unprofessional woman by the name of Marley who did not want to check me in. She took her time greeting me, half way looked for my reservation acting as if there was no reservation, then when I get my office on speaker all a sudden she located it, it was around 11 in the morning and I had been driving for hours she told me I had to wait until 3pm to check in. I have checked in to Hilton countless times before 3 if rooms were available. She kept repeating that it was up to HER. I'm not sure if she was trying to get a tip or something but we went back and forth for about 5 minutes she told me to take a seat and she would see what she could do I asked to speak with a member of management she told me management wouldn't be in until that afternoon. I told her I would just wait at the counter like I normally do a man walks up to check out hears the way she talking to me and makes a face and all a sudden she begins checking me in to a room. Then as I was walking to the elevator she holds up 2 bottles of water and asked do I want them I said yes can you put them in a bag please she said they were out of the lil water bags. So I came down later when Marley left asked another lady did they have the little bags she said sure and pulled one right out the draw and handed it to me. I found long blonde hairs from a completely different ethnicity then myself throughout the room. I called them and they actually came and changed the bed very promptly. In the room I was in I could hear to much noise from the surrounding rooms.
