I stayed at the Radical Hotel for a one-night reservation for my birthday. I booked my room via the Radical website, an affiliate of the Hilton brand. I ended up calling the hotel and asking if they offered any birthday packages.
I spoke with Reign who mentioned they could offer me complimentary champagne for my room. Prior to my stay, Hilton sent me a notification that I could pick my room.
I ended up choosing the 4th floor with the river views. I had also paid for my room prior to arrival. Upon check-in, I was provided a different amount than what I paid.
I asked if this was the amount for incidental coverage, but it was for a completely different room rate. I’m glad I asked because I would have ended up paying twice for my room. When I was handed my room key, I noticed that my room was on the 3rd floor.
I mentioned that I had confirmation that my room was already chosen. I was then told that room was not available. I was very disappointed. The room itself was an eclectic and beautiful space.
I loved the details of the décor and the whimsical theme. There was ample space for my friend and I to be comfortable and move around. The bathroom was also unique, and I loved the brass finishes.
Unfortunately, the window in the room was high, so we had absolutely no view. I also did not have the bottle of champagne in my room, so the hospitality member ended up bringing it to our room.
We decided to venture around the hotel and enjoyed the artwork in the downstairs area. The restaurant was closed during the day, but there was a café that was opened until mid-afternoon.
There were some items for sale (t-shirts, small tickets, etc.) near the entrance that I thought looked a bit tacky at the front of the hotel. It really wasn’t appealing for me.
We went up to the rooftop, which was a nice feature of the hotel. The views were nice, but the furniture looked a bit worn and could use an updated look.
The bartender wasn’t very attentive, so we had to wait quite some time to get a drink. We went out later that night, and when we got back, I couldn’t use my keyless entry (via my phone) to get back into the hotel.
Thankful, a hospitality member was at the front desk and let us in. I was told that the keyless entry was a feature through Hilton that wasn’t working properly.
I would have appreciated to have been told this prior to check-in. The beds were comfortable, and the hall was quiet.
The next morning, I called to request a late check-out (12pm) since I am a Hilton Honors Member. I was told check-out was 11am, with no exceptions.
Overall, I had a good stay at the Radical Hotel and wouldn’t mind staying again at a decent rate if visiting Asheville again.

Great stay overall, the only stain on my experience was interacting with the Hotel manager, British guy, obviously not from Asheville. He was rude to my wife and we witnessed him verbally harassing an employee. seriously look into this John character.
Lots of things to love about the Radical:
- big spacious rooms with high ceilings
- beautiful bathroom with strong water pressure
- eclectic design both for the rooms and common areas
- cool neighborhood (arts district)
Only drawback really is that the parking out front is not included.

As a local and vendor to Asheville I do the annual holiday installations - but also previously designed the designer of the hotel's wedding and amenities. I feel a connection to this place not just because it scratches an itch creatively but because of what it represents - an out of the box location to lodge and enjoy what most hotels offer but with a fun spin, a little unexpected, curated art, food, coffee culture, etc. Additionally, front desk manager Phillip is amazing - very high touch approach to guest facing services - loved working with the Sales and Marketing team last few years with Andrea and Manager Jonathan this year for our first year creating a little holiday magic in the lobby and touches around the property.

We came for a quick overnight trip to Asheville. The hotel is super cool! I loved the quirky & unconventional decor. It also smells amazing in the lobby!
The room was great, we stayed in a King suite with a separate bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the canopy drapes were extra fancy. I LOVED the huge walk-in shower too!
The only thing I would say about the particular room we were in, is that the living room area wasn't very comfortable. The couches just weren't very cozy. There is also a large cement post in the middle of the room which was fine but the way the room is set up, it's right in the way of the television. Also, the king suite we had didn't have a pull-out couch, just be aware that if you are relying on an extra bed, not all of the suites have one.
What I really appreciated most out of everything is the staff. I noticed the front desk staff were all pretty laid back and seemed like genuinely good people, something you don't usually see at hotels. I also want to give a shout out to the nicest manager I ever came across. I had a billing issue that was 100% my fault, and I spoke to Philip about it. I told him if he can't adjust it it's not a big deal because it was my fault and it wasn't important in the grand scheme of things, and he said "It's important to me". That simple kindness made my day. He fixed my issue which I didn't expect as I have come across so many rude managers who could care less about the guests. I really appreciate Philip going out of his way to help me. You can tell he really cares about guests, and it shows. He’s the kind of manager every hotel should hope to have—professional, compassionate, and just a really good human.
We didn't get to experience the rooftop bar because it was too cold, but it's on my list for next time! Thank you to everyone at the Radical Asheville! You rock.
