This was my first time visiting Billings, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I will say that Billings in general really surprised me. It’s a quaint yet somewhat vibrant city that offers some great food, views, and experiences
This hotel is interesting. It is one of the tallest if not the tallest building in the city. I was on the 11th floor and I could get a morning view of the sunrise, and I could also see the refinery that I would be working at each day while visiting
The hotel itself is well decorated, but there are aspects that show its age a little. All told, the room was fine. It was made up each day with fresh towels, new sheets, etc. There’s a fitness center that is clean with plenty of equipment. There is a restaurant, bar/lounge, and coffee shop. I only tried the latter, the Marble Coffee Co., and it was a solid experience. I will review them separately
A couple of pro’s to staying here is it is in the heart of Billings. You’re staying in downtown, and there’s so many restaurants, bars, etc nearby. The front and back doors are all superheated so you warm up immediately when coming in from the cold winter air. The airport is close. You’re like 10-15min away. Also, because it’s a Doubletree, you can always get warm signature cookies at the front desk.
Some of the downsides to staying here are the parking situation. There’s a small lot for parking, and if it’s full, and it fills up quickly, you have to park in a separate parking garage where the will validate your parking. The water in the room is not complimentary. There’s water in the lobby, but a couple times they ran out of cups. Also, a couple outlets in my room didn’t work, and my phone died overnight when I thought it was charging. On my last day, I returned to checkout after working in the field and I went to take a shower, and the water pressure was incredibly low, and the water was more cold than warm
Also, the elevators were giving me trouble. I couldn’t get my card to work and I actually got stuck in the elevator for a bit. I had multiple people take a look at it before maintenance fixed it. I will say Anna and the maintenance team were great. Another individual working the front desk was rude, wouldn’t look at me when I had follow-up questions at the desk, and when I called letting them know I was in the elevator and asking how long it might take to get out she was very short with me and even hung up on me. She is the main reason I am leaving such a low review. It left a bad taste in my mouth, and it was already somewhat traumatizing being stuck in the elevator when I needed to checkout and get to the airport
Some tips:
I was able to get late checkout, and they offered to hold my bags, so, if you need that service, they’re happy to oblige. I would also, visit downtown for a fun night out. Some of my favorites were Spitz and the Burger Dive (as seen on Man vs. Food). My absolute favorite stop was the Art House Cinema & Pub - take in an affordable film or just enjoy the delicious food in their restaurant
Cheers!!

Really enjoyed my stay here. As a businessman who travels often, the staff here are very courteous, friendly, and amenable to my needs which are value, quiet, workspace, focus, and with enough tech options for me to work from either my room or the business area. They just make it very easy to be a business person on the go. Thank you guys for excellent service!

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the last couple years for work. I'm a longtime Honors member and have always preferred Doubletree, but im done with this particular one. There are certain expectations that come with a Doubletree and rarely are they met with this location. During my multiple stays here I've experienced a total of 1 time where the shower drained properly and I wasn't standing in 4" of water. The breakfast on the 20th floor is a joke, $20 for a buffet that rivals Golden Corral in flavor. I've tried multiple times hoping it was a bad day, but sure enough, the view seems to be the only good thing. I've never tried the dinner menu based on how unimpressed i am with breakfast. Nothing negative about the cocktail lounge on the ground floor however, but it's hard to screw up beer. I've had outlets not working, televisions not working, and been overcharged.
My last trip, i was even left waiting at the airport for the shuttle for 45 mins before finally getting an Uber. The hotel is 2.5 miles from the airport. I called the hotel and was told a shuttle had just left. 20 mins later (again it's 2+ miles) i called the hotel only for them to immediately put me on hold for the next 20+mins. That's when Uber was called. The service at the hotel is always nice and smile, but not very helpful. I received nothing but excuses for the shuttle kerfuffle. The rooms want to be fancy and upscale with all the brick interior, but it's just old. The pillows are as flat as pancakes. The beds are whatever, not notably comfortable or uncomfortable.

It's got nice rooms, very nice beds, and was clean for the most part. Behind the nightstand was actually a little nasty, it didn't look like it was cleaned for awhile. Other than that though I enjoyed my stay. Personally thought it was a bit overpriced for the way you basically have to pay for everything from the water in the room, to a good wifi connection, and watching any channels that aren't your local basic cable channels. If they just ensured the rooms were entirely clean, gave actual free wifi that was good (like even less expensive hotels do) and their people were more helpful it could definitely be at the very least a 4 to 4.5 star hotel in my opinion.
The Double Tree provided a a great stay, from the warm staff reception to the fresh and hot chocolate chip cookies to fine dining, our stay was enjoyable. They sent a shuttle to pick us up from the airport and the driver gave us some great tips on local experiences. Marble coffee lounge is awesome; they make a great latte, have a great space to relax, and serve food. The breakfast burrito was pleasant. We enjoyed coffee while we taught our son how to play checkers on an old fashioned game table. Montana’s cocktail lounge was nice for some pre-dinner drinks and snacks, the restaurant chefs prepared fresh ceviche with raw shrimp cooked in lime juice, the only way to enjoy it. Montana Sky restaurant is on the 20th floor and the view of the town at night is really nice. My wife enjoyed the beef Wellington and I had the wagyu, very well prepared and tasted amazing. The snack shop by the concierge was great to grab some late night munchies and Gatorade for recovery. We stayed on the 14th floor and had a great view of the city-scape. I particularly enjoyed the fitness room, small, but basically a tiny gym. They have so much great equipment in that space and it isn’t crowded at all. Probably the best hotel gym I’ve ever seen, and I have stayed at some very high end resorts. Got a great workout in then hit the city streets for a run. The great fireplace is very comfortable with a coffee and ambiance. The rooms are a bit small, but they look nice, clearly dated but have modern touches for those comforts we all enjoy. The bathroom was very small and difficult to move around in, and there is no fan, but the shower was nice and hot and there is shampoo, conditioner, and body was on the wall, all smell good and have a quality feel. The sink area is also tiny, but it goes with the look of the room. The room would be better complimented if the ceiling were flat vice popcorn. The outward wall was basically three giant windows, so the view was awesome, day or night. Albeit aged, the Double Tree blends in well with the local architecture for that old-town feel. It has so many modern touches that the small feel of the room was hardly noticeable. We really wanted to just roam the hotel and see everything there is to offer. We sampled everything and had an amazing visit. There are many photos of rooms and amenities already, but I want to show the updated fitness center, cause it’s pretty nice. Whati didn’t capture was the cable machine tucked in a corner behind the indoor rower, which is an awesome touch, you never see an indoor rower. There is a large, multi-level parking structure across the street and a glass enclosed walking bridge will take you to the second floor of the hotel, all while protecting you from the cold, wind, rain, or snow. Hotel staff were so kind and helpful and allowed us to relax in the large fireplace room after we checked out until we needed to depart for the airport. We enjoyed one final dinner at Montana Sky via Montana’s cocktail lounge before the hotel shuttle took us to the airport. We had tasty house salad, an awesome French dip, and Mac and cheese and fries. Overall, very well worth our stay.
