Tl;dr everyone working here did a great job but the hotel itself needs some help. Booked the night before- well, I intended to. I’m pretty sure I put in the right dates, but it got flipped back to that night. Likely user error, but I didn’t notice until I had already booked the room. Frustrating, but shouldn’t be too much of an issue, right? Well, no, because this hotel doesn’t have a working phone. At least, the posted phone number doesn’t work. So I call an 800 number in the booking email- they can’t get ahold of the hotel either! She’s really sweet and says she’ll leave a note in our account to see if we can get a refund. 😬 We go ahead and book for the correct day and hope for the best. The next day I call back to the same 800 number and she can’t get ahold of the hotel either!! Finally, she finds a secret method (maybe the first lady sent a passenger pigeon and it finally arrived, idk) and they do refund us for the unused night! So that’s great! The hotel lobby is gorgeous, valet parking is very helpful, the woman who checked us in was very sweet and personable. We dropped our stuff and headed off to get dinner (Iron Horse Grill was a block up and very good!) Security directed us on the best way to get there, which was so sweet! The rooms look nice. The accent wall is a lovely blue. However, the pillows on the bed are tiny flat squares- like you see in a really cheap, shitty hotel. The TV didn’t have any signal. The internet wouldn’t connect, just an obnoxious spinning circle over and over until we gave up. The water pressure in the shower was abysmal. I had a cut re-open and I asked the front desk (not the woman who checked us in) for a little pack of antibiotic cream and she said no, they don’t have that and there’s no where around them to get basic first aid supplies- what?? The fridge kept our food cold, the bed (aside from the pillows!) was comfortable, the AC works, and the blackout shades worked very nicely, but I don’t think I would choose this location again.

Once grand hotel which has clearly declined with the area. Room was large and clean but tired and clearly furnished to a strict budget. Half the room was just an empty space. Might suit golfers who like to practice putting. Staff were polite and resolved an issue with room safe efficiently, but all had the resigned air of folk expecting complaints. We parked on street which is free all weekend, but overheard staff telling guests the only parking option was the $28 valet, tut tut. Area very shady, but obviously some money has been spent to try and regenerate the area. Maybe if you come in 5 years this will be the swankiest hotel in the new Jackson arts district, but for now I have to say avoid.

I stay in hotels for business 6 nights per month and have done this for the last 4 years. This is easily the the nastiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The bed sheets had 2 large yellow stains on them, all 4 pillows had stains on them (I had to put a t shirt over one just to have a clean place to lay my head), there was urine in the toilet, there was no toilet paper or tissues, brown water came out of the faucet when I turned on the sink, the hvac unit vibrated loudly while running and would bang as it turned on and off. I didn’t complain because I checked in around 11pm and planned to only be there 6-7 hrs and was very tired. Fast forward to 2 am, the hvac turning on woke me up (I had earplugs in because it was so loud) so I gathered my things and left. This place was absolutely disgusting, do yourself a favor and stay at the motel 6 it’s way nicer. The security guard out front was awesome though, great guy.

Concerning Safety and Service Issues I don’t often write negative reviews, but my recent stay at this hotel raised several serious concerns. There was no self-parking available - only valet service at $28 per night, which was not clearly stated before arrival. The check-in process felt rushed, as the front desk clerk seemed distracted and not fully attentive. The hotel advertised an “on-site restaurant” and “room service”, but what isn’t mentioned anywhere is that both are only available Thursday through Saturday. We stayed on a Tuesday night, so neither was offered, leaving very limited dining options available to us. Once in my 8th-floor room, I encountered multiple issues. The door was difficult to open and didn’t lock properly, and a security officer entered without notice, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The room phone also didn’t work, leaving no way to reach the front desk or even call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency - an important safety concern in a 12-story building. At 1 a.m., a fire alarm sounded, and my husband and I (along with only two other guests) evacuated down eight flights of stairs. When we reached the lobby, we were told it was a false alarm and that it “happens all the time.” None of the residents on the upper floors evacuated, which suggests this may be a frequent occurrence that people no longer respond to - something management should urgently address. After returning to the room, we were too unsettled to stay the rest of the night. We packed our bags and checked out around 2 a.m. because we no longer felt safe or comfortable remaining on the property. Overall, the stay left me uneasy about the safety and management of this hotel. With proper staff training, better communication, and attention to maintenance and security, this property could offer a much better and safer guest experience.

My husband and I have been here every bit of 1 hour and I’m ready to leave. Our room is not up to par at all. The shower floor is yellow and looks disgusting AND we have one rag in our room. My husband called to ask for towels and rags and was told they are in the dryer and they will let him know when they will have them ready. Mind you we literally just checked in around 8 pm you would think the room would be ready. And I won’t mention the area the hotel is in. Needless to say this is my first and last stay at Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Jackson Mississippi.
