STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. I have never experienced anything as unprofessional, unsafe, and outright disturbing as what took place at Spark by Hilton in Brandon, MS during my stay from December 8–10, 2025. My wife and I traveled from Georgia to visit our disabled son at Hudspeth Regional Center. Our stay ended with humiliation, police involvement, and—most shockingly—an unauthorized charge to a completely different card from a stay MONTHS earlier. Here is exactly what happened: • During checkout, my wife calmly informed the supervisor about issues with the room (hair on surfaces, clogged tub, and blood on towels due to a medical nosebleed). • Instead of listening, the supervisor escalated the situation and loudly accused us of trying to leave without paying—while our payment was already pending and visible in our banking app. • This happened in front of other guests, causing unnecessary embarrassment. • Police were called without justification. The officers were professional, but the entire scene was unnecessary and traumatic for our family, especially our children. • After leaving and blocking my primary card due to multiple unauthorized attempts, things got even worse. The very next day, December 11th, I received a Cash App alert showing a $159.52 charge from “Spark by Hilton”—to a card I used in JULY, not for this stay. This card was never presented, never authorized, and never part of my December reservation. This means someone at this hotel accessed an old card and manually keyed it in. That is a serious violation of trust, privacy, and financial laws. I have opened a case with Hilton Corporate, filed a dispute with Cash App, and will be pursuing criminal and civil action regarding the unauthorized use of my financial information. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying at this location to rethink it. Room conditions were poor, but the real danger here is how your personal and financial information can be mishandled. Until Hilton addresses this internally and publicly, this property is not safe.

Seedy Bait and Switch - Avoid or Be Wary It may be cheap at the Spark, but you get what you pay for, and you may have to pay more than you think. It looks updated in the photos, but quickly after arrival, you’ll begin to see the ghosts of the hotel it used to be. This appears to be a renovation (and a cheap one) to a much older hotel. The elevator was janky with holes on the floor and a loose button panel with only 3 of the 8 screws loosely holding the buttons to the wall. The floors and stairwells squeak badly and the walls are paper thin. The room has little furniture (one wobbly chair), but it does have a microwave and fridge (which come with free odors). The sink didn’t drain and there was a painted over but flaking off rust stain from the bathtub down to the floor. However, the nice housekeeping staff keep it as clean as possible. The bed was fine and bedding soft at least, with good stain free towels. But so many weird little things: the cards stop working way before checkout, so if you’re going to your car to load, you might have to have a front desk person escort you back up to your room. What? Fix that issue. The front desk staff know this is an issue, but no one is fixing anything. However, if you have a pet, avoid these managers. They may steal from you like they did with us. The Hilton website says $50 pet fee. At arrival they told us it’s actually $75 every three days now. I said, “It says $50 on your own app. That’s what we want to pay.” The lady at the counter looked apologetic but remained firm - we could pay $75 or leave. We figured we’d discuss or argue this with a manager when we tried to check out, but opted to avoid them for the customer service line, who helped somewhat. Overall, a negative experience, but a (noisy) place to sleep with clean bed and towels, made much worse knowing they stole from us. No one takes accountability either. Avoid the deceptive managers here. Who knows what else they’ll do to sneak money out of you.

Great little hotel! Only issue we had was the AC unit under the window, the plastic casing on the unit fell off with a huge THUD, in the middle of the night and woke us up. Other than that, everything was perfect.

Met the need for a bed but the room left much to be desired. There was a damp, musty smell and the smoke detector was beeping low battery. No maintenance personnel available so had to detach from wiring and turn it off. Water was warm at best. On the positive, the staff were friendly and accommodating and it was easy hop back into I-20.
