Dynamic rate increase was egregious. $950 for one night. Shameful business model.

The Graduate has all the professionalism and service you expect from a Hilton, with a uniquely local twist and decor! Truly a delightful place to star. Staff go above and beyond every time (and there were a few opportunities for them to do so during this stay), location is the perfect walking distance to all of the historic Downtown and Capitol buildings.

We ventured back to the hotel after a long day of working the boat show ... sat in the restaurant where the staff asked my 63 year-old wife for her I.D. when we asked for 2 glasses of wine. Unbeknownst to her, she had left her I.D. at the boat show booth...so she offered a digital version from her phone. The manager came over and rejected her efforts...and refused to serve her. This is a case of authority run amok. To refuse a senior citizen a glass of wine is asinine. -- I decided to cool my jets before approaching the front desk the next morning. The desk attendant offered zero empathy and stated it was a citywide rule that everyone is to be carded. False...it's not a citywide rule/law...I googled it. When I told her we hadn't been carded at other restaurants in town she changed her story to: It's a Graduate Hotel policy. False again. When I told her we'd stayed at numerous Graduates without being "carded" she replied it was just the Annapolis Graduate. This is when my BS meter started redlining. -- Even if there were such a policy/law...the crux of its creation would be intent, and the intention would be to prevent underage drinking....not refusing service to seniors.
Parking is convoluted...with no signage, space or direction for temporary parking while checking in. Parking is expensive. Parking gates work sporadically, and "call" button didn't work at all. Exit arm was broken, which (mercifully) alleviated some tedium.
Rooms are fairly nice and beds are comfy, but bathrooms are outdated.

We found the location of the hotel to be excellent with everything we wanted in walking distance, from the restaurants in both Annapolis and Eastport to the football stadium. Self parking was plentiful. Our only issue came at check-out. We had booked a rate including breakfast (which is basically a credit to be used at the cafe in the lobby), and as Hilton Gold we also received a daily $15 food and beverage credit. On check out we were told that these could not be stacked - we immediately challenged this. A managed was summoned who then stated that the offers did stack but only he could authorise it. We did ask why this was, and why other staff were unaware of this but didn't receive any particular response. Since returning home I noticed on our emailed receipt that we had been charged for one nights valet parking, which was a surprise as I had self parked from the moment of arrival until departure. I have emailed the hotel, with the necessary evidence but so far they have not bothered to respond so I will have to chase them.

The room was beautifully decorated, honoring some locals and the Naval Academy. The room and the valets were the best part of the hotel.
The front desk service was only average. We were not asked if we were Hilton Honors members. My husband told them later and had to get the complimentary waters from behind the desk himself.
The two bartenders were middling at best. They made us feel like they were doing us a favor by making our drinks. I had the worst espresso martini there.
The restaurant was really strange, too. This is a four star hotel, but we had to order our breakfast at the coffee shop window. We were told to seat ourselves in the restaurant and the food would be brought to us. This however, did not happen. The cook (who was super sweet)called out our name and my husband had to go and get the food. The food was very tasty. I am super disappointed that we stayed at a four star hotel and had cafeteria service at the restaurant. There were several other couples who were also confused by their lack of restaurant service.
The valets were the only group that was friendly and efficient. Cam, the manager and other valets were wonderful. It was not feee though, as it was in the past.
