I stayed at this hotel for a conference earlier this summer. Going to break down the pros and cons. Pros: Location wise, the hotel is walking distance to a lot of notable sites and restaurants in the NOLA area. If you enjoy small boutique hotels this may be for you! The service from staff is pretty good Chris was very friendly and helped me out a few times. They have nice art in the lobby and have a small I Banksy exhibit in the back near the elevators there too. Cons: The rooms are bit dated for me. I think as a boutique hotel, it could be a bit better. For example, there was no table or even small desk or coffee table to set things on or to work at in the room. I work from home and had to go to the lobby to work which is not convenient to me. Secondly, regarding the rooms, I suffer from severe sinus issues and there was a consistent mildew smell in my room and on the second floor where I stayed. It felt and smelled “damp” more or less. I was there for a week, and I did notify the front desk about this issue. I was unable to switch my room and the front desk said the smell was due to the sushi restaurant downstairs and the scent traveling through the vents. However, I disagree, personally I don't think that was the case. I think theres a mildew/moisture issue maybe from the carpet, plumbing etc. Some of my colleagues who stayed at the hotel for the conference said the same thing. Overall, this hotel is marketed as a "luxury" hotel but to me it was just ok, nothing amazing or top of the time to draw me back to stay again. I am returning to NOLA for the same conference next year but I don't think I will book my stay here. I may choose another hotel.

Although I never got to stay due to an error on the hotels end or third party service, I was very disappointed in the service of the front desk. Upon arrival, I figured out that the hotel did not have an active reservation for me when they were supposed to. The front desk could only do so much due to book through a third party, no big deal, I can figure that out. While still dealing with the third party service, I was giving different info to the front desk to see if it would be any help. When giving this info the front desk staff was being rude with their communication. The staff member asked if I had a confirmation code from the hotel which I did, showed it to them. After showing the staff member they said that’s not ours, didn’t even bother to check it in the system, and immediately became dismissive. In the end, I was able to get my refund, but a bad taste was left behind, enough to not want to stay there on my next visit. I don’t blame the hotel for the reservation errors, but I do blame them for not having on par customer service.

We recently hosted our 2025 National 811 Liaison Conference at this hotel, and I felt compelled to share our experience. I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but the level of service we received here deserves to be recognized. From the moment planning began, the sales staff and management team, especially Amanda and Sophia, were exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure every one of our attendees had what they needed to fully enjoy the conference. Christopher at the front desk made check-in seamless and welcoming. Abigail, who managed the Loa hotel bar, was not only wonderful to work with, but her hospitality and craft cocktails were the highlight of many conversations among our attendees. We received so many compliments throughout the week that I could hardly keep track of them all. To top it off, the owner of the hotel personally came to speak at our event—a gesture that spoke volumes about the pride and care behind this establishment. Our outside caterer did an excellent job, and the A/V team on site was professional and attentive. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. I will be hosting all of our future New Orleans conferences at this hotel for as long as I’m in charge. The experience here rivals some of the finest hotels I’ve stayed in—on the level of Ritz-Carlton hospitality and service. One note: I didn’t sleep particularly well, but that was simply because I’m used to quiet country nights, not city lights. The bed itself was extremely comfortable. If you’re considering a location that offers something special, memorable, and truly guest-focused for your conference or event—I highly recommend this hotel.

My husband decided on our hotel for a long weekend in New Orleans, and this was his stylish boutique choice. The prime Camp St location turned out to be ideal since it was a couple of blocks south of the French Quarter and a brief streetcar ride to the Garden District. We were within reasonable walking distance to our planned activities like dinners at Emeril's and Willie Mae's and the live music at the Crescent City Blues Festival at Lafayette Square. While the Beaux-Arts building was built in 1906, it didn't become a hotel until 1998 when an enterprising entrepreneur noticed that the smaller boutique hotel market common in London and Paris was underserved. The lobby has a modern sheen featuring Banksy-style art and edgy celebrity portraits. Our $270 per night standard room had a more traditional feel, somewhat dated with minor flaws like a nightstand drawer that didn't close. I was surprised that some amenities were lacking like a safe and a coffeemaker. However, the Queen bed was comfortable and the room spacious enough at 325 square feet. Our room didn't face the street, so there wasn't excessive noise. The front desk staff was polite though the service level was on the middling side. We definitely enjoyed the Loa Bar. Primarily for the location, we would consider a return stay.

The experience we had at International House was deplorable to say the least. We were there for a work conference and our travel team did not book one of our colleagues a room (not the fault of the International House), but when requesting to accommodate they did do so for 2 nights of the 4 we needed. We requested from Ms Leslie that if a room became available to please call to extend for the two nights . Again we are traveling together 1 vehicle, same flight everything. The next morning Chris was very friendly & knowledgeable & so made the request of him too as we left. About mid day Chris called and left a message that they indeed had a cancellation and to give the hotel a call back to book. (We missed the call because again we were at a conference). Upon calling back Leslie answered an questioned why we wanted to speak to Chris and basically said he does not know what he is talking about and proceeded to LIE and say that a room was not available. She was rude from the first and should not be forward facing in the hospitality industry if that is her demeanor to her guests. This was strike 1. We did get our colleague booked at another hotel. Everyday we received our Valet rental car back there was sodas/wrappers etc that did not belong to us in our car for $42 A DAY! again Unacceptable. Strike 2. Strike 3 came on the night before we left when we pulled to the front of the hotel in the middle of the street because none of the Valet cars were moved an waited not 20 but nearly 40 minutes before one of the guests just moved their cars themselves. Again for $42 a day we should not be sitting in the middle of the street to get out the vehicle. We had a 5 am wake up to be to the airport for our flight and this was an exhausting experience. Working for hospitality driven company I know the expectation that you have for your beautiful hotel, but your Staff (Leslie and Valet in particular) need WORK! I would not recommend International House currently.
