I have stayed here several times over the decades. I love the location and the convenience. I have had a couple not so great experiences at the Hilton Riverside. This past one might was bad.
I suffer from gastrointestinal issues and sometimes I get sick. Well my stay in NOLA November 13-16 was no different. As I was getting sick I saw something in the corner of my eye. It was DISGUSTING!!! See photos…. What in the fecal matter and mold was happening.
This doesn’t happen when you miss cleaning a toilet a time or two. This comes from not cleaning.
I was given a new room. I was going out and told the guy at the front desk I would move when I returned later.
When I got back around midnight to change rooms the key didn’t work. I called the front desk the night manager said he would send someone. I asked for a cart. He said I would have to walk to the lobby to get it. The security couldn’t bring it to me and no one could assist!
I carried all of my things to the new room in a totally different building at 1 a.m.
I just wanted to shower and sleep. No way the shower isn’t working!!!!! I waited for almost an hour for maintenance to come and turn the nozzle to an on position.
I was told someone would contact me about the incident, no one ever did. I did get a $75 food credit which I used for undercooked wings that has black skin (?) and a filthy glass filled with water.
I don’t know if I will be staying here on my next visit. This was a lot…..

Was in town attending a conference recently and stayed in the standard king room. After speaking to my colleagues, apparently one tower had been renovated and the other tower had not. I did say in one of the renovated rooms and it was absolutely amazing. I’ve stayed in several different hotels in New Orleans and with these renovations, this has definitely become one of my favorite options under Hilton in the area! Spacious room with view of the river. Loved that the entryway was tile and sleeping space was cushioned carpet (after walking the convention center all day this was a HUGE plus). Bathroom was spacious and nice! Mini fridge and coffee maker was in room. Love that they now offer a QR code in room for you to tip housekeeping so no need to bring cash!
The bar and restaurant onsite are amazing and offer quality drinks and great food! It’s in close proximity to the convention center and Mall. Just wish there was a direct connector to the convention center but is walking distance to the French Quarters!
My biggest issue is I needed to have an Amazon package shipped to the hotel (something small) but the hotel forces all deliveries to go though the FedEx in house which has limited hours so often time I was not able to pick up my package because I had to be at the convention center before it opened and would not make it back over until after they were already closed. There was also a fee just for me to pick up my package which was really frustrating (my Amazon item was only $5 but the FedEx charged me $10 just to retrieve my package).
Overall, I had an amazing stay (LOVE the Hilton beds and pillows)! Looking forward to staying again, just will opt for an Amazon pick up location instead.
The Riverside Hilton is always a very nice experience. It's very convenient because it has a great restaurant like Drago's inside and other nice choices for food, but its also connected to the Riverwalk so you can get easy shopping done as well. You rarely need your vehicle as the location is close to everything downtown in the French Quarter and along the Gulf. The parking fees are high, so if you don't need to bring a car, it can save you a lot.

I stayed at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside October 28-31, 2025 for a work conference. I actually stay at this hotel every July for the Essence Festival, so it is very familiar to me. It always feels like home.
However, I discovered something I had never looked for and was probably better off not knowing. I was cold and requested a blanket. However, housekeeping had a comforter sent to my room. As I opened the comforter to spread it on my bed I was facing the window and noticed its transparency. Not only that, it looked like every person who had ever stayed at the hotel left some of their skin dander in the comforter. It was disgusting - just look at the picture. It was surprising and honestly disappointing to see this level of cleanliness from a Hilton property. Especially since they have remodeled many of the rooms (since I was there in July), but have not purchased new linens. On the bed you wouldn't notice this, the comforter looked clean, but as soon as you hold it up to the light (insert vomit face).
What’s even more concerning is that this doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident. I was sharing my experience with a colleague also attending the conference and she went into her photo gallery and showed me a picture she took of a comforter at a completely different Hilton — in another city and state — and it looked worse than mine. That makes me think this could be a larger issue within the brand’s housekeeping or laundry process.
I requested a blanket again and had them remove that comforter (but noticed the one on each bed was pretty much in the same state). I proceed to report it to the front desk the next morning, which bring me to the positive side of this review.
I want to recognize Gabriella, who was absolutely amazing. I showed her the picture and she immediately stepped into action. She apologized profusely and offered, what she was able, to rectify my displeasure. She was kind, professional, understanding, and genuinely went out of her way to help me. Her care and quick response turned an unpleasant situation into a much better experience.
Riverside is blessed to have someone like Gabriella on their team. I wasn't looking for anything, I just needed to make them aware of what their guests are sleeping under. I spay my bed down, but I have never thought to lift a comforter to the light. Disgusting! I hope the company takes a closer look at its linen. It's time to rethink what might be the most sanitary type of comforters, that withstand constant washing and drying, cause the current ones aren't it! I expect the linens (because I don't think this is a housekeeping issue) to be of high standards, like the level of service I received from Gabriella.
Will I stay here next July, I am sure I will, with the hope that things will have changed now that they know!
This place is HUGE! Check-in went smoothly and he explained everything to us and answered any questions we had. We were put over in building 3, which was nice and quiet, beautiful view of the river but it was definitely a hike but also worth it. The shops were fun to visit and in close proximity. We utilized room service a couple of times and the food was hot, delicious and quick. We used valet for parking and they were super fast and curtious. If you're a gym rat like my husband and I are, look no further, the Fitness Center here was nicer than our gym back home. When we are back in NOLA we will definitely return to the Hilton Riverside.
