We received disparate treatment compared to other guests. Upon checkin, as Hilton Honors Members, the front desk is supposed to provide us with a complimentary bottle of water. When we stay at other Hiltons, the front desk automatically provides that at check-in, without even asking. However, at this hotel, the front desk worker, Austin, did not provide anything. Then, when we inquired about it, Austin, reluctantly handed us a bottle of water and appeared extremely annoyed.
In contrast, when another Hilton Honors member checked in, the front desk automatically gifted them a white bag with a bottle of water plus their choice of snack.
Moreover, when we had a question regarding checkin time, Austin said he did not know the answer and he handed us the hotel business card and instructed us to call the front desk. Being that we are already standing at the front desk with Austin manning it, we asked again if he could help us. He reiterated that he would not help us and instructed us to call the number for the hotel front desk. Absolutely ridiculous!
Even more ridiculous is that in addition to Austin standing behind the front desk, there were 2 African-American employees behind the front desk. Austin refused to even ask either of those 2 women to assist us. His only resolution was to leave, take the business card, and call the very front desk that everyone is already standing at.
Realizing how inept Austin is and how he would not help at all, we left. We called the number on the business card, wherein, none of those 3 employees picked up the phone. Seriously, I'm convinced that this is how Austin offloads every customer that he had no knowledge to help.
In addition, the wifi did not work at all. When we notified the front desk, they advised us the entire hotel has no service and there is nothing they can do about it. Of course... silly of us to think that they could be of any help. They did not even comp us for the inconvenience of and lack of an advertised service. Not having wifi was extremely disruptive for important work-related business.
We were disapointed to discover that the bathtub shower was badly clogged. One was quickly ankle-deep in water after running the shower for just a few moments. We ended up just continually turning off the water, just to let the water drain (which took forever), then turning water back on to rinse off.
The breakfast was interesting. One day they served thin slices of hotdogs for breakfast. Apparently real sausage is expecting too much. By way of comparison, we can eat better and get an entire hotdog and unlimited soda for $1.50 at Costco.
We paid several hundred dollars each night for this hotel, and even paid extra for an upgrade suite. Instead they gave us 1 room, with no suite.
The location is not great. Immediately adjacent to the hotel are several groups of homeless people. We had a bona fide fear of being jumped...and we are well-aware front desk will not help.
All part of the hospitality at this hotel.
Worst experience ever!
