I don’t normally leave reviews unless things are really good, but I’ve never been so perplexed by a situation in my life. after returning to my hotel room at around midnight, I unexpectedly wrapped my hand around a full grown lizard sleeping on my door handle. the lizard did not move even after I grabbed its whole body because it was clearly intoxicated from cleaning supplies or something. once I went to the front desk to hopefully get someone to just grab the lizard and put it outside, both the man working behind the counter and some lady loitering by the front desk who (I was told) didn’t work there, genuinely looked at me like I was challenged for mentioning it. this lady who (again, I was only told) didn’t work here, handed me an ink pen and told me “you’ll survive” and that “you’ll see worse on bourbon street.” both of them just told me “you can’t just flick if off the handle?” When I went down to the front desk in hopes of someone freeing this dying lizard outside (that wouldn’t move even if we clapped near it and agitated it), I expected staff to act surprised at the problem and offer some kind of help. Eventually, my friend and I got the lizard onto the floor but it crawled under the door and into our room. It took several minutes for it to come to and leave our room. We watched it go into the room across the hall. Again, I went down to the front desk to tell him that there was a lizard in someone else’s room now and that I did not like the way I was spoken to. The lady (who was still loitering at the front desk) told me to leave “her” a review instead of the hotel as they both claimed she didn’t work there. I genuinely believe this is a lie as no hotel staff should have let a customer talk to another customer like that and both of them didn’t think I’d stand my ground. when I brought this up, the man acted surprised that I stood up for myself and then said “the lizards we have are always babies, they’re small.” with those words, he admitted that this is something that happens often. he was a little shocked when I showed him a video of a fully grown lizard drunk on my door handle. still, he did nothing about the situation. I paid for a place to stay and I am not out on bourbon street for a reason. we have a friend coming visit tomorrow who will not step foot into our room if she finds out there was a lizard. this place is clean but we should not have to put a towel under our door to prevent lizards from entering. by the way we’re on the fourth floor.

The staffwere friendly. Biggest draw was the in door pool. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The breakfast was good and filling. Ms. Ellis"s grits were delicious. My only complaint was the outrageous prices of their 'snacks'; go to the Dollar Tree right down the street and save yourself 4ish dollars!

Nice hotel overall, but the AC wasn’t working well during our stay. Breakfast was around 5/10: no orange juice, and most of the food (including eggs and patties) had way too much black pepper.
