The new 87-room Origin Hotel Baton Rouge, a Wyndham Hotel, stands as a testament to the city's rich history, located steps from the legendary Mississippi River. Once home to the Baton Rouge Savings & Loan Association and, later, the esteemed East Baton Rouge Arts and Technology School (EBRATS), a beacon for non-traditional learning and a vital contributor to the downtown renaissance, the building preserves its legacy with murals, artwork, and journals intricately woven into its design.
Multiple reviews highlighted cleanliness problems, including dirty bathrooms, stained sheets, and unemptied trash cans.
Staff Performance
The staff received consistent praise for being friendly, helpful, and accommodating, with several standout employees mentioned by name.
Location and Ambiance
Guests appreciated the hotel's central location and unique decor, particularly its LSU-themed elements, contributing to a fun atmosphere.
Restaurant Service
The on-site restaurant faced criticism for limited hours and lack of service, disappointing guests expecting full dining options.
Parking Concerns
Parking was frequently mentioned as a drawback, with limited availability and additional fees causing frustration among guests.

Hidden jewel of a hotel in BR! Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, well appointed rooms. Nice bar and restaurant area. Quite a surprise find.

We checked into a room that had been prepared but not actually cleaned. As soon as we looked at the bed, it was clear that someone had slept in it, even though it had been made up. The floor had visible shoe marks everywhere, and the overall cleanliness was far below acceptable.
On top of that, a leak in the ceiling woke us up in the middle of the night.
The staff were kind and quick to assist us with a new room, and the breakfast was fine. But unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience overall.

We stayed in the bunk room which had 2 sets of bunk beds as well as a king-size bed. One of the bunk bed sets was unusable as it was so squeaky. Fortunately, there were only 4 of us using the room so my daughter just moved over to the other bunk, or we all might have had a sleepless few nights. Other than this, it was a perfect hotel for us. Walking distance to restaurants, both capitol buildings and the river. With reasonably priced parking on site. Would stay again.

My first experience was with Corey the front desk supervisor. He was so professional and took care of all my needs. My second experience was with the restaurant in the hotel Tiana was my server and she was very attentive and sweet her mom is the chef and she did a wonderful job on our breakfast. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for everyone.

After a 14 hour travel day I finally checked into my room. I laid down to relax and there was blood on the sheets. I then turned on the tv (you can see in the photo below) it was broken. I went and told the front desk and they moved me to a new room. I got to my new room and ordered some door dash because I was exhausted. Around 10pm I decided to take a shower and my towels were wet! This was in the new room. It seemed like they were taken out of the dryer while they were still damp. So I went back down to the front desk to get new towels.
I also felt like the hotel was dated and had damage on the walls (see picture).
I was there for a conference and there were rooms set aside for everyone for this conference. Several other people said they didn’t have hand soap and one person mentioned it to the front desk and their solution was “well, you have body wash….” One of the people with the conference was staying in the Tiger Suite and their refrigerator wasn’t even working. I was shocked to see there was no microwaves.
We were also given $20 vouchers to use at their restaurant by the coordinators of the conference. The first morning, there was only one waitress and one person working in the kitchen. They were not prepared for how many of us there were.
They also kept charging the wrong card, so that was very frustrating. So needless to say I was not very happy.
