My family and I were excited to visit Kentucky for the first time and chose to dine at the Rackhouse Tavern at the Campbell House because of its great reputation. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and left us feeling racially profiled. When we arrived, we stood at the host stand for about ten minutes without being acknowledged, while several other dining patrons laughed and took pictures of us. It was humiliating and uncomfortable. When we addressed the situation with the young lady at the counter, she stated she would get the manager. She returned a moment later to tell us the manager said he would “get with us when he could,” rather than coming to speak with us directly—even as we continued waiting. We also couldn’t help but notice that we were the only Black guests in the establishment, which made the lack of acknowledgment and the behavior from others even more unsettling. As first-time visitors to Kentucky, we were genuinely looking forward to trying this well-known restaurant, but we left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. This was not the experience we expected, and it’s one that we hope management takes seriously so other guests don’t feel the way we did.

Just tried to get a table here and they had us standing waiting and no one came to help us. We asked to speak to a manager and the manager Jeff never came. This is poor service. Very distasteful if you ask me.

Comfortable beds,Bar & service was great, however rooms are not even equipped with a mini fridge or microwave. Sink was outside of bathroom next to door,A FAMILY MEMBER hit me in my back with door coming into RM. While I was standing at sink brushing my teeth. I got a nasty bloody scrape because of this. When I go back to Lexington to watch Kentucky wildcats play Will stay at Home 2 for my $200.00 please 🙏 😢

EDITED after updates from the hotel: Hotel was very nice and we enjoyed the stay. The vibe is really nice. Had a couple of unexpected charges after we left (parking which we weren’t told about and “waters” which we didn’t touch). Initially the hotel was unhelpful but we did finally get the charges removed and the second interaction with their customer service was a pleasant one. Just be aware they you will be charged for parking daily, and lookout for other random charges like for waters they you didn’t use.

Would have given 4 stars if it weren't for Lisa at the front desk and the unmatched customer service she provided upon check-in. Beautiful hotel that could benefit from a few renovations/updates. However, the room was clean and spacious; and the lobby was really cozy with the Xmas decorations at the fireplace. Would definitely consider staying here again. Thank you Lisa!
