Hotel Review: Hampton Inn, Goddard, Kansas
I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn in Goddard, Kansas, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing for several reasons:
Room Experience:
· Only one key card was provided for two adults, with the front desk citing a shortage.
· The suite’s pull-out couch was broken and unusable, and there was no full-time maintenance staff or alternative suite available. We requested a discount since the room we paid for was not correctly functional and never heard back from manager after several inquiries.
· The hotel manager, Nicole, was extremely rude and unprofessional when discussing the couch issue.
· The room was not properly cleaned, with hair found on the toilet, bathroom floor, and sink.
· There was a water spot with possible mold on the ceiling above the bed.
· No “Do Not Disturb” sign was available.
· On Thursday afternoon, the water was shut off by the city, and the hotel could not say when it would return. I had to leave the hotel to find a working restroom.
· WIFI was not working, and TV service kept cutting in and out.
Breakfast Experience:
· Three out of four juice options were out of order.
·First morning Breakfast sandwiches were served frozen, and the cook did not resolve the issue.
· The bagel was stale and dried out, and the warming tray was empty.
· Second morning, no eggs or Sasuage available at 7:30am
Overall, my stay was marked by poor service, lack of maintenance, cleanliness issues, and disappointing breakfast options. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience and how staff handled issues.

No hand soap in the hotel whatsoever = 0 stars. As a healthcare professional, it is hard to enjoy my stay knowing that all the guests are not washing their hands with everything they touch, including the complementary breakfast.
We brought this to the attention of the front desk, and they told us they were aware, did not have any extras, and would be waiting several days to receive soap. That is disgusting. Management should be going to Walmart with the company card if the shipment hasn't arrived
They offered a solution to use shower gel. That's maybe fair, but this was running low, and its optimistic to assume most other guests could be bothered and just won't wash their hands.
Room otherwise clean, staff friendly, decent hot breakfast but this does not overcome a basic hygiene issue that would not be allowable in most businesses.
Booked for 1 night, arrived late and front desk employee Justin was pleasant and provided us with information. Rooms/hotel grounds were clean, beds were comfortable, hotel appeared new. All was satisfactory until breakfast time when I opened the bread/bagel box and numerous gnats emerged, which was disgusting. I notified the breakfast attendant, who was unresponsive. Gnats were prevalent on breakfast choices. I communicated my concerns to the manager on duty on 10/31/25 at 10:00 am; rather than promptly addressing the issue, she offered an excuse that the entire state of Kansas was experiencing a gnat infestation. As a guest, I did not need to hear this explanation; instead, I expected the manager to take charge and rectify the breakfast situation, which she failed to do

I don’t want to give this rating a 1 star but in some areas it deserved it but I think over all it was just “ok”. I will start with what was great, notified at noon my room was ready, open the door and i immediately think “oh man this is a nice room, early check in and the price is fair.” We drop our stuff off and head back to the ball field, come back to the hotel around 10pm, ready to shower and get to bed, it’s been a long cold day. Go get into the shower, have no, I mean no shampoo, conditioner or body wash. I get out, call downstairs, she kindly apologizes, shares they are out of body wash but she can bring some to the room in about 20 minutes, no problem and thank you. 20 minutes later she is at the door with shampoo, conditioner and bar soap and another apology, the lady was so kind and this was just a small thing no big deal. We go get into bed and the parking lot light is shining in the room, go to use the powered blinds but they don’t even work, so we sleep with what felt like a flood light shining in our room. Next morning get up, use the last of the toilet paper on the roll, look for another to replace, there is none. Ask for more, they informed me that they do not have any…what in the actual heck? What do you want people to use? They don’t offer any suggestions besides sorry, me being me, I go find a public restroom in the hotel and go make my own role so my kid can use the restroom in the room we paid for! We go down for breakfast, now there is multiple ball teams there so it’s busy, but remind you this hotel has a water park and 10 ball fields next door so this isn’t new. There was no food and people are waiting and waiting for what they paid for when they booked the hotel. So point is, if you are not going to provide the amenities that people are expecting for and they most of all pay for, then tell them, be honest. I absolutely did not get my money’s worth and pretty certain the Hampton made a lot of money this weekend and gave nothing back to those who stayed there…I am not here to speak on behalf of anyone else but there were much worse situations then what we dealt with during our stay. Hampton…do better!
Charged for a extra night stay. This has been a very mishandled situation. Everyone is avoiding taking responsibility for what has happened and been very unprofessional. I could not even speak to a manager. I have only been sent the same receipt 3 times with no changes made. This does not reflect well on all parties involved. I have not been unreasonable or demanding. If all calls are recorded I have only asked that it be made right in a timely manner and it has not.
