Upon on checking in everything was going good until I get in my room ready to go to sleep I moved the pillow and there was bed bugs, I went to the front desk showed the picture of the bug the lady on the front desk was friendly moved me from rooms and told me she’ll notify the manager about the situation and I should hear from the manager the next day about what they can do further to get a reimbursement, it’s been 2 days already and I haven’t heard nothing from the manager of the property this was the worst experience.
- ETEMPRESS TDec 28, 20253.0The good is the room appeared to be very clean. However, I did have an issue that was not remedied in some shape form or fashion. On the 2nd night of my stay, a big black (or dark colored) bug either jumped or fell from the ceiling onto my laptop in the bed. Like many people, I have a phobia of just about all bugs but ESPECIALLY big ones! I couldn't bring myself to examine too closely so I grabbed one of the hand towels and threw it over it...I was happy all the lights were off except for the corner lamp. I hit the towel with a shoe hoping to kill it, then grabbed the whole thing and set it outside the door. I was extremely tired so I just waited to the next morning to inform the front desk. The woman said she would send and email and notify the manager. When I checked out on day 4, I asked to speak to the manager and said she was aware of the situation but was not informed of the room #. She said she would contact me later that afternoon after finding out what she could do to make it right but I never heard from her. She gave me her business card but it's not my responsibility to initiate follow up...I'm the guest with the grievance.

Couldn’t stop telling the wife how awesome the staff is. Already booked for next year. Want to give a special shoutout to Yvette and Kevin. They were both on top of things. Yvette went out of her way multiple times during our trip to make us feel welcome. Anytime there was a slight mess, it’s almost like Kevin was there to pick it up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more clean hotel. The outdoor fire pit was amazing. I’m always very cautious of hotels and sometimes anxious when I stay at them but my experience was the opposite here. The breakfast was awesome too. Biscuits and gravy, yogurt, sandwiches. Didn’t try many of the other options but was very thoroughly impressed. Good job, Home2 at Merrillville. I’m impressed and you’ve gained a lifetime visitor whenever I’m in the area.
