  We almost exclusively stay at Hilton hotels because my husband is paraplegic / wheelchair bound and always needs a roll-in shower with handheld shower hose to take his showers. Hilton has proven time and time again to be consistent in ensuring he has the right set up. We had a one-night stay at the Effingham Home2Suites and when we got up in the morning much to our dismay we discovered the bypass faucet switch that turns the regular shower into a handheld shower was broke! The regular shower head and water stream did not reach far enough for my husband to shower properly while seated on the shower bench. I contacted Christy at the front desk explaining the problem. She was very kind, professional and empathetic. I asked if there was any way we could get a partial credit to our account since this was now a major inconvenience. Christy promptly consulted with management (despite this being a Sunday morning) and notified me that we would be fully compensated for this inconvenience. She went above and beyond what my expectations were by assisting us with this resolution. She also reassured us that maintenance would be tasked with repairing the broken faucet diverter and apologized more than once for our inconvenience. Kudos to Christy and the management staff at Effingham Home2Suites for their exceptional customer service and going above and beyond to ensure our concerns were addressed.

  We travel cross country each year and generally stay at Hilton properties. This property checked just about all the boxes; clean, helpful, quiet, tastefully decorated, spacious rooms, fantastic gym. The only negative is breakfast on weekends doesn’t start until 7am. Please start breakfast at 6am for travelers who need to hit the road on the earlier side or at least put out a continental option for us to grab a quick bite.

  Room was spacious and clean. The staff were very pleasant and willing to answer any questions we had. Our room had a nice sized refrigerator, sink, microwave as well as a dishwasher. The breakfast was wonderful! I would recommend staying here if you want great customer service and good food.

  We stayed here twice (once on either side of a ln Amtrak trip) and it was fantastic. It has to be relatively new because the property is immaculate: from the rooms to the common spaces, everything is in perfect condition. There are lots of places to eat nearby, and easy access to shopping if you have forgotten something. My only minor concern is that the shower was warm, but not hot on both stays. But that's a relatively minor issue and I would stay again in a heartbeat.

  Last Sunday we were traveling back from Nashville where we had spent Thanksgiving and celebrated Christmas since I'm a nurse in WI and have to work. My youngest daughter received a tamigotchi from her aunt for Christmas. We accidentally left it behind in the hotel room. I called immediately a few hours after check out to report it and I asked them if they could look for it. They said they would. They called and said it wasn't there. But it was because I know exactly where it was left. I called again that night for an update. They now had a guest and said they would look under the couch the next day. They never bothered. I know it was in the couch because she was sitting on the bed with it and before we left we folded up the bed and it was forgotten. I've been a loyal customer of Hilton for years. We've stayed so many times over the years when my daughter had surgeries out of state. I've never had such horrible service. Ultimately it is my fault for forgetting to grab it but shame on them for not caring enough to go look under the couch. Now my daughter is without her Christmas present and is really broken hearted.
