Very friendly front desk staff. They took our $75 pet fee off because the room type we booked wasn't available. Room was large and very comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were quiet. Only complaint was that the TV didn't have access to Amazon Prime, Youtube and Netflix, which in my mind, should be on every TV in every hotel on the planet. Who the heck watches cable TV anymore?

The layout and function of the room is very good. The beds with 4 soft pillows on each bed were very comfortable and the shower was excellent. Our room on the 4th floor starting to show signs of aging but was very clean. It was also super quiet with no noise at all.

This is the second day that the hot water has not been working and it's below freezing in December.

I will start by saying that 8/10 people will probably think this hotel is fantastic and have no complaints! It seems pretty appropriately priced. Maybe a tiny bit high. I am a highly sensitive person though, and I find reviews to be very helpful for me in determining whether or not a hotel is worth trying. Because of my sensitivities, I honestly try my best to not stay in hotels at all, but it isn't always avoidable. I bring an air purifier with me and it helps. Because of this, please take these comments with a grain of salt. The good: - The staff were all very kind and friendly. - The hotel is mostly remodeled (it seems like within the last few years). - The location is pretty good and felt safe. Not far from 35 & 18. I did hear some road noise but it wasn't terrible and I wear earplugs to bed so it didn't impact my sleep. - I had an even numbered room on the 4th floor and enjoyed the view of a lake out my window - and sunrise! - Free breakfast! Decent variety for gluten and meat eaters, but I was disappointed they didn't have any plant based milk for those who are dairy free or vegan. Many places have started carrying soy milk, almond milk or oat milk for this large percentage of the population. The bananas looked really sad. I'm glad they had oatmeal with dried fruit and nuts so there was something I could eat. - Next door is Caribou Coffee, a Pizza Hut, and Z'mariks Noodle Cafe (which has gluten free and vegan options and clear allergy info!). The disappointing for some: - The pool was closed and there isn't a hot tub anymore. I'm not sure why or when it will open but I didn't care because I didn't want to use it. Challenges for sensitive folks: - No exhaust fan in the bathroom means even though it appears to be recently remodeled, there was already a little mold in the shower (room 418). - The current construction on the first couple of floors means VOCs and dust. They were painting near the breakfast area and I could barely handle checking in with the smell of paint. - All of the products in the bathroom are highly fragranced. This was a non-issue thankfully because I bring my own. I'm not sure if any hotels do fragrance free products but I wish it was a requirement, especially since the American Medical Association now recognizes fragrance sensitivity/allergy as a disability. - The heating/cooling unit smelled a bit at first but my purifier cleared that up for me. - Something in the room was still off-gassing. My guess is the carpet. I'm glad I brought my air purifier. The sloppy: - Not a huge deal to me but I was a little surprised by how many stains the carpets already have near the elevators. I would absolutely not want to be in charge of keeping hotels clean because people are dirty, but this might bother some people. - Because of the construction, there is construction dust and debris in some hallways and by the elevators. I was a little surprised the construction crew didn't vacuum that up at the end of the day. - There were a few hairs in the shower. Not a big deal to me and I just removed them when I showered. - The nightstand had some dried splatter stuff. It might be glue or epoxy? I don't know but it makes it look dirty. Not a huge deal to me.
