Absolutely horrible experience. This location allows 300 children to run wild til 1 AM without any control whatsoever without any accountability. Their way of saying sorry was to comp my valet. Absolute joke of a location. I spend over 150 nights a year at Hilton properties and never had this horrible of an experience I will never return to this location when working in Des Moines.

I've tried to leave photos but it won't let me, but it was dirty, blankets not laundered, rust, popcorn ceiling, old furniture, making everything seem dirty, shower curtain was disgusting, wallpaper peeling, both phones not working. I could go on. Lobby is great but the rooms are filthy. Not a good stay. They need to renovate and train staff to pay attention to detail.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this hotel. The free breakfast is so fabulous! Reuben is the BEST chef ever. My omelets were always cooked to perfection. And every morning while enjoying my breakfast, I was greeted by Paula with her warm and beautiful smile. She was always very helpful and was a great addition to my mornings. Reuben and Paula work very hard and both of them deserve a raise!! Thank you Reuben and Paula for making my first visit to Des Moines very special.

After a stressful situation at a different hotel, Negin completely turned my stay around. From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly welcoming, kind, and professional. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and taken care of, and her positive attitude truly made a difference. You can tell she genuinely cares about guests and takes pride in what she does. Because of Negin, my stay started on a high note, and I’m very grateful for her hospitality. She’s a real asset to this hotel — thank you for making me feel so welcome!

It’s a convenient location and this hotel WAS nice when I stayed here a few years ago. However it doesn’t seem to have been cleaned or maintained since then. I was here as part of a fairly large group and many of us had issues ranging from temperature control(seems like you either get a fridge or a sauna, and maintenance has to come unscrew a panel in the ceiling of the room to change it), mattresses that are very old and have little support, black mold, leftover items from previous guests like hairs and a dirty sock, and even a MOUSE in one room. When you ask about these issues, you get mansplained to by the maintenance guys or have offensive jokes made at your expense. One of the elevators was broken for half the stay, as were several of the doors into the lobby. My room had clearly not been deep cleaned in a while, I found trash leftover from other guests behind the tv and under the bathroom counter, along with a dead roach. The carpet was peeling up in places. The metal plate on the door for the stopper was hanging on by a thread and came off not even a day into my stay. The plate in the microwave must have broken and been replaced with a different model’s plate, because it didn’t fit and wouldn’t turn as it was supposed to. Also, the boxspring under one of the beds must have broken at some point because there was a 1inch thick sheet of wood underneath the mattress, with no attempt at even hiding it. The sink in the bedroom was leaky, and I had to turn one of the handles almost 360 degrees to get it to stop. None of the hardware attached to the wall is particularly sturdy either. There was dust piled up in corners and mysterious splatters on the walls. There weren’t any bedbugs, which is about the best thing I can say about the room. Breakfast was decent but honestly, for an embassy suites, I expected better, especially when the staff try to take your plate from you without asking before you’re done eating. I’m not sure what happened to this hotel from the last time I stayed here, but it needs a deep clean, a remodel, and to retrain almost their entire staff. Including the general manager who has responded to multiple reviews with similar issues in the last year or so, but clearly hasn’t done anything to fix the problems. I stayed here for work but if I had paid the cost out of my own pocket, I would have demanded a refund and found somewhere else to stay instead. It’s not worth the price or the hassle.
