We were in Kauai for our wedding so looking for something nice and reasonable, but wish we would have gone somewhere else. A bit of a disappointment.
To start with the good- The location was great, the beach was close and the tiki bar was great! The bartenders were so friendly!
Here’s where things weren’t so great.
Parking: not great- $25 a night to park and hard to find parking. They have a “back up” lot but it’s a walk from the room.
Rooms: ANTS! We couldn’t get away from them. On the bed, on the counters, on our phones.. I got up from the bed to find I was spooning with about 10-15 ants. You can’t get away from them.
Then there were the beetles (maybe cockroaches? I’m not sure) that we would find in the shower, on the curtains and on the floor.
Staff: kind of rude at check in, we asked some questions and they were pretty short with us.
Mostly the most irritating was the parking fee. We’ve already paid to stay here, now we pay for parking? Just so dumb and a total rip off. And the ants.

The room was very average and outdated. Housekeeping missed a scheduled room service, so when we returned in the evening, the bed was unmade, towels had not been replaced, the bathroom was wet and full of sand from last night’s post beach day shower, and the room was extremely humid. Although we checked in at 11:00 a.m., we were not given a room until after 3:00 p.m.—not even a minute earlier. Due to jet lag, we had to rest in the lobby and asked again at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., but were repeatedly told no. Overall, the service was very poor. And, there is an additional $25 amenities fee and $25 parking fee!!! Very disappointed with the stay.

On the evening of December 27th at around 8:40 pm, I went to the hotel front desk to buy two cup noodles because I was hungry. Since the cup noodles did not indicate that they were microwave-safe, I asked the first front desk staff member (the one without dark hair) whether there was any hot water available so I could prepare them. I was told there was no hot water, so I returned to my room to figure out another solution.
I then went back to the front desk to ask whether I could borrow a glass or ceramic cup so I could heat water in the microwave safely. The second front desk staff member (with black hair) told me they only had plastic cups — and then handed me a paper cup that clearly had a symbol printed on it indicating it must NOT be placed in a microwave (photo attached).
When I pointed out the symbol to her, she looked at it and still insisted that it was “fine” and that I could microwave it. This is not only unprofessional, but also unsafe and potentially dangerous.
My friend later called the front desk to question this, and we received the same dismissive response — “there’s nothing we can do.” No apology, no alternative solution, not even basic concern.
This raises a serious question: why does the hotel sell cup noodles when there is no safe way provided to prepare them, and when staff clearly do not understand basic safety instructions printed on the items they hand to guests?
The next day, I eventually discovered on my own that the coffee machine could dispense hot water — something the staff never mentioned at all. Instead, they encouraged me to microwave a cup that explicitly said DO NOT MICROWAVE, which could have resulted in a burn or fire hazard.
This experience was extremely frustrating, unprofessional, and disappointing.
I hope the hotel will properly train its staff on guest safety, basic hospitality, and how to provide correct information instead of careless and misleading answers.

Extremely Disappointing Diamond Experience – Hidden Fees & Poor Service
As a Hilton Diamond member, I have stayed at properties all over the world, and I can sadly say this was my worst Hilton experience to date.
Hidden Fees & Dishonesty: My booking confirmation explicitly included a $25 daily resort charge, which was supposed to cover resort activities and amenities. There was absolutely no mention of a parking fee during the booking process. However, upon arrival, I was hit with an additional $25 parking fee per day. It felt like a bait-and-switch.
Lack of Coordination & Competence: The hotel staff and reservation system are completely out of sync. There were multiple billing mistakes on my folio that required correction. Furthermore, the front desk seemed unfamiliar with the system, making check-in a chore. Even as a Diamond member, they couldn't confirm a late check-out until the actual morning of departure, which defeats the purpose of the benefit.
Poor Value: The rooms are dated and old. Given the high price point and the added hidden fees, the value just isn't there. You are much better off finding an Airbnb in the area for a better price and more modern accommodations
Indifferent Service: The most disappointing part was the attitude of the staff. The front desk team was cold and indifferent. It felt like the hotel's priority was squeezing every last dollar out of a guest rather than ensuring a loyal customer had a great stay.
Save your money and your Diamond status for a property that actually values its guests.

IMPORTANT!! This is a well researched review.
Context: First time couples trip to Hawaii for a week.
1. PESTS. I was concerned from reading the reviews but we had no issues. I think they had this problem for a couple of months but it is all good now (December 2025).
2. SERVICE. They kind of lived up to the reviews. I wouldn't say they were rude, but somewhat combative (more on this in pro tips). We ran out of soap twice (hand soap and body soap) which means the cleaning people just dont check them. The soaps are large bottles and easy to refill/switch out. Anyway, cleaning itself
3. LOCATION. Really good. It is central on the island which is super nice. 40 mins north and you're in Princeville and about an hour to the canyon hikes when you go south. 30 mins away from any boat and super close to airport (use pineappleexpresscarrentals). It also is right on the beach and the state park is well kept. Lagoon is great for little kids to experience a safe ocean. Was nice to walk there every morning.
4. MISCELLANEOUS. 3 days into the stay the staff told us "they" discontinued the half and half coffee creamer for the complimentary coffee. I know this sounds snobby, but if you're gonna offer complimentary coffee, then make sure you have the typical creamers of half and half, milk, and oat milk, it is 2025 people. But the crazy part to me is that they had half and half creamer for the first 3 days, but then took it away...why would they do that?? Who does that. CoffeeMate is horrible and ruins coffee. It is not even real creamer.
5. PRO TIPS. Park at Hikinaakala Heiau state park for FREE. The hotel tries to scam people by offering parking for like 25/day. Most local hotels have free parking. Remember my comment earlier about the protip? Well, when we checked in the staff, really pressured us into using their parking, even though I told them that we'll just park for free across the street, they made it seem like that was a really, really, really bad idea. They tried to scare me from saying that the homeless people hang out over there and they might break in. We saw 2 homeless people during our 7 day stay. Both harmless. One is famous "Malibu Dave". If you make eye contact with him he will tell you about breathing and connecting with nature. Ho lives in a van which wasn't always there. He just travels around Kauai. Anyway, cool guy.
Allegedly during non busy seasons they have a hospitality room to freshen up before a late flight but it wasn't available when we asked. We ended up using their outdoor showers.
6. ENDING. Overall, if you are planning on spending a lot of the time around the island (food trucks, beaches, hikes, etc) this is a solid option. Attached photo is view from a King bedroom with ocean view. We got to see sunrise and see into the luau they put on. Was debating between this and Kauai Shoes by Lava Lava 3 mins away. Lava lava was delicious and it would be cool to wake up so close to beach but I do think overall the Hilton was the right choice in terms of amenities and views we got.
