DO NOT STAY HERE! This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel - period. The room was humid, musty, smelled like mold and reeked of cigarettes. I spoke to the woman at the front desk, Jay, and requested a different room due to the smell. She assigned me a new room, and I asked, "if the room is still not up to standard, can I cancel the reservation and receive a refund?" for which she replied "yes." I went to the new room, and despite the airflow being slightly better (less humid/musty), it still smelled like cigarettes and I was coughing immediately as I entered the room. I went downstairs to request a cancelation/refund, for which she replied, "I was just up there and it doesn't smell like cigarettes, so you can't get a refund." There was no manager on site, and she kept going in and out of the office to talk on the phone with someone only to keep reporting back that I can leave but won't get a refund. I finally convinced her to let me talk to the assistant manager, Stanley, who she was on the phone with. Stanley reassured me that the GM was a very reasonable person, and that I could cancel the reservation and the GM would give me call on Monday to sort out the refund. After that conversation, I canceled the room and stayed at the Drury next door (which is amazing, highly recommend). Monday rolls around, and no call. I reached out to them and spoke to Anthony, who was unaware of the situation and told me he would look into it give me a call back. When he called me back, he was extremely rude, inappropriate, and unprofessional. He said "two people checked out the room and it didn't smell like cigarettes, so we can't give you a refund" and insisted that he was relaying what the GM told him to tell me. I requested to speak to the GM directly, for which he told me "no, he is in a bunch of meetings today." When I asked for the GM's name, he told me he was not required to give me that information. Excuse me, but what? I don't even know where to begin. I did not stay at the room I am still being charged for, my husband agreed it smelled like cigarettes (so, that's subjective lol), and shouldn't a GM prioritize handling guest problems? The GM clearly had enough time to relay a decision to Anthony but couldn't take 5 minutes for a call to address it personally? I have never experienced this in my 20+ years of staying at hotels. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. The staff is inconceivably disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional. DO NOT STAY HERE! The Drury hotel is right around the corner, same exact price point, and a completely different experience. Do not put your health at risk staying at a place that doesn't have quality control and has rude and disrespectful staff to defend their inadequacies. Save yourself the headache and book at Drury instead, if you're staying in the area.
