- DIDean IrwinNov 7, 20251.0We had a pre-paid reservation at the Lake Wales Hampton Inn on October 30th for two nights but our flight was late and we arrived at 4am, only to be told that their computer system was down and they couldn't check us into a room. I had called ahead to tell them about the late arrival, but no one warned me that the entire Hampton Inn reservation system would be "upgraded" that night. When I asked the night clerk what she could do to help us, she became angry, as if I hadn't been listening: "I already told you our system is down. There's nothing I can do." She eventually told us to go to a Holiday Inn down the road and that their manager would reimburse me. She did not bother to call the Holiday Inn to advise them we were coming. She did nothing at all to help us except take down my name and number. She was unpleasant and unprofessional. It was now 4:30am. Next day I called the manager, a Mr. Rhett Miller, and was told he'd call me back. He never did. When we checked out at the Holiday Inn two days later, The front desk clerk told me that our room had been paid for, but no one at the Hampton Inn bothered to tell us. I'll never stay at a Hampton Inn again, and I suggest you do the same. Dean and Audrey Irwin

I rude, aggressive guest butted in to interrupt my check in. The reception woman was great and said, "I'm helping someone else" which I appreciate AND has to say it twice as rude lady persisted. Thank you On the note so positive side, coming down in AM to get coffee, the dark roast was super cold. Returning to my room, the elevator got stuck with me inside. It was close to 5 minutes as I was starting to sweat and anxiety was on the rise. I hit every button and then intermittently had to start ringing alarm. Not a pleasant experience. When the door finally open, a long line and crowd of people waiting I raced out and had to regroup and compose myself ....scary. The shower did also show a bit of mold. Good location with a few surprises...
